as a weird aside, i liked how the article was written. words, sentence structure, thoroughly detailed, etc, better than a lot of american articles i've read lately. the DWC article on bloodhorse saw me close the page half way in, i couldn't keep reading it.

on topic, i can't imagine how ugly this could have been. it could have been a disaster just at the stables but at a train station... ugh. bet that horse got a lot of relieved hugs and treats after returning.

I saw that race...and it gave me a giggle. When the race caller said he'd never seen a horse go off by 30 or so lengths, and still hold on to win (and by open lengths ), I thought, "guess you never saw Presious Passion run."

Also on the card, American Pharoah's Riff Rocket won his 3rd G1 in the Australian Derby over 12f. He is far and away the best AP offspring in either hemisphere, but is not a typical Australian speedster. Wonder if his success is enough to warrant AP shuttling back to Australia this season. If he was winning over 6f instead of 12f+ I'm sure it would be a no brainer, but Australian breeders aren't exactly lining up for stamina producing stallions.

Glad someone else is noticing Riff Rocket, who just quietly keeps racking up graded stakes. I've been enjoying following him.

Broadsiding won his 3rd G1 in the Golden Rose. He became the first horse to win with no previous start at 3. Storm Boy was 4th.

Michael Wrona is a respected caller---he was hired at Santa Anita a few years ago after suspicious competition with Frank Mirahmadi. A year or so later Frank replaced Michael Wrona in a strange scenario. He's now fulltime at Los Alamitos.

Yulong has pumped at least $100,000,000 into bloodstock globally in the last 5 years, so it’s good to see one of their big Northern Hemisphere buys dominating down under. And to think Via Sistina almost scratched earlier this week because she got loose during her work and circled the track three times before they could catch her!

And almost two seconds faster than Winx’s best time at the track. Incredible.

Given how he hasn’t quite been the star they had hoped for, this seems like a decent plan. It’s a lot harder to win an Australian G1 Sprint than a European one, just ask Asfoora.

I’m not sure how the handicapping will work, but I feel like a sharp younger sprinter isnt really at a disadvantage. I also don’t think Coolmore is keen to wait until he is four before making a big move like this. They already have invested a lot into the horse, time to get some G1s next to his name.

I think now that the Spring Carnivals are winding down and the Everest has come and gone, they figure why not? They could have entered him in the VRC Champions Sprint, but maybe don’t want to lose any more face with him? If they wait until after the Autumn Carnivals, he probably won’t have enough time to get acclimated. I’m just guessing, though.

Run him in one or potentially two of the Ascot sprints, maybe the July Cup if it all goes well, and he’s retired and back in Australia by the time the SH breeding seasons starts.
