It looks like Lugal(JPN)(Duramente) is being sent off the top choice of the public in this wide-open field and I like his chance.
But can the pupluar mare Meikei Yell(JPN)(Mikki Isle) grab her first G1 success in her swansong here?

I'd be thrilled if either Meikei Yell or Win Marvel got it.

The daughter of Epiphaneia became the third Oka Sho winner for the trainer Sakae Kunieda following Apapane(JPN)(King Kamehameha) in 2010 and Almond Eye(JPN)(Lord Kanaloa) in 2018, both of whom went on to sweep the Triple Tiara.

Kunieda said; ''I have about the same degree of confidence in her at this stage as I had in Apapane and Almond Eye.''

Will the jockeys in the Satsuki Sho wear black armbands in honor of Kota?
I have seen riders do that elsewhere when a fellow jockey is lost.

All jockeys wear black ribbons today.
Also, in order to express their condolence, they are flying flags at half‐mast.
