Bezos is entered in an Allowance @ Aqueduct next Friday. it's carded as Race 4, 6 ½ furlongs on the dirt.
he has been moved to Eddie Persaud's barn. he only has 97 starts and has been training since 2001, but has had multiple gaps (2004-2008, 2011-2014 and 2014-2020), for whatever reason... at least he seems to keep Bezos on a consistent breezing schedule? does anyone know why he has taken so many training breaks?

Just guessing but he might be working as a farm trainer when he’s not training at the track. If I remember right that’s how John Shirreffs got started. He got Bertrando ready to go back to the track after a season at stud. Bobby Frankel wasn’t down with it so Shirreffs went ahead and trained him during his comeback.brunanas wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 6:55 pm Bezos is entered in an Allowance @ Aqueduct next Friday. it's carded as Race 4, 6 ½ furlongs on the dirt.

Tom Ryan from SF Racing told me he can retire him and to tell the owners that but... it's not like me, a random person on the internet living in a whole other country, can find a way to contact them. and i don't think they know people want the horse retired. i asked him back to see if maybe he has connections that can get him in touch with the trainer and/or owner. unless someone here knows of any of their social media (i tried and couldn't find anything), which would already be of some help?
then i think these retirement organizations could be an option.

update — Tom Ryan now thinks he runs "consistent numbers" so they'll just keep watching him and aren't looking to purchase to retire as of right now. so we'll see him start again a few times i guess, unless someone else reaches out to retire him.

I’m fine with retiring him. I claimed a horse once and retired him and had him almost 19 years. If they’re going to persist with Bezos though, he needs to drop in class. He seems to do okay for 1/2 mile and then the water gets too deep. I’ve heard he’s a bleeder. Sometimes when they’ve bled through Lasix enough they just quit once it starts happening again. Dropping him will keeping him from having to work so hard the last part of the race.

i'm not sure when these owners will drop him in class though. while i'm glad he doesn't run in really low levels, it makes it harder for him to be retired by someone else. it seems right now the only option would be to contact the owners directly and purchase him but i'm not sure they'd even be willing to sell. i wish i had the financials to be of any help.

There has been such a rule but a lot of those types of rules started to be relaxed when the field sizes plummeted. Like the old claiming jail rule. It’s one thing for a nickel claimer to be getting distanced time and time again but another for a horse running in allowance races. Again, worse things have been done than retiring this guy. But if you’re going to run a horse, I’d much rather see it run once a week where they belong than getting it’s brains beat in by better horses every 3 weeks or so. Both may seem to be evils but the latter is tantamount to abuse in my opinion.

Its a NYRA rule, maybe CDI added it too. Its 5 races in a row, by either 12 or 15 lengths. I can't remember which offhand.

I did not realize that his owner is listed as "Bezos Stables, LLC." Naming your partnership after a horse and then running him repeatedly at a level he's clearly not competitive at is just... weird. Does anyone know who they actually are? Is it a group of people who just enjoy owning a once-hyped horse and want to watch him run around a bit before trying to extra some stud money? Or do they just genuinely think he'll turn it around one of these days?
I would assume that Eddit Persaud is related to Randi Persaud, an at-times troubled (https://paulickreport.com/nl-list/persa ... able-drugs) low-end NY trainer.

So I've tried figuring out who it is. They also own a mare named Amity Island. Both these were previously owned by Mahendra Kallap before the owner name was switched to Bezos Stable, LLC. The trainer stayed the same when the owner named changed. But they've gone through numerous trainers since then, so idk if it is that person. These are the only 2 horses that Bezos Stables and Mahendra Kallap have owned. They have raced the mare a couple time in straight claimers but most of the time its AOCs without a tag, she is usually in way over her head too.Tessablue wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2024 10:48 pm I did not realize that his owner is listed as "Bezos Stables, LLC." Good catch... so strange. I thought it might be someone who just really doesn't want their horses claimed, but why run her in claimers and then AOCs without a tag? Would love to know what the heck the story is there.Flanders wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2024 11:34 pm So I've tried figuring out who it is. They also own a mare named Amity Island.
