She got absolutely no respect - don’t understand it. What a talented filly she is….Danniwolfe wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2024 6:14 pm Tarifa won the fair grounds oaks Bernardini gets another winner

I’m not because the 2nd place filly from their last race, Intricate, got the bulk of the attention ….but horses don’t care about the odds!CoronadosQuest wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2024 6:44 pmI was shocked that she wasn't the favorite!Slewfan2 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2024 6:16 pmShe got absolutely no respect - don’t understand it. Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but I just checked the Equibase chart, and Tarifa DID go off as the 3/2 favorite in the FG Oaks. I don't think that equates to getting absolutely no respect! Intricate was a close 2nd choice at 2/1, and finished out of the money.Slewfan2 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2024 7:45 pmI’m not because the 2nd place filly from their last race, Intricate, got the bulk of the attention ….but horses don’t care about the odds!

She was 3rd choice right before the race, or the last time I looked - which was a minute or so before the race, so that’s what I remember. I guess she must have taken some late moneyMissbeholder wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 8:43 amMaybe I'm reading it wrong, but I just checked the Equibase chart, and Tarifa DID go off as the 3/2 favorite in the FG Oaks. Apparently, she must have. I'm just happy to know that I wasn't misreading the chart odds. Those odds are displayed in a dollars-and-cents-to-one format which honestly just confuses me trying to convert them to the regular tote-board odds that I'm used to.Slewfan2 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 11:34 amShe was 3rd choice right before the race, or the last time I looked - which was a minute or so before the race, so that’s what I remember. That's funny! I was watching the action on V V's Dream quite closely. Her M/L was 8/1, but on two different radio shows on Saturday morning, BOTH of the big "Sheets" outfits.....Thorograph AND Ragozin were totally all over her at that price, and both made solid and detailed cases why she would win the race! I was far from surprised when she opened on first tick display at 3/1 off that 8/1 line! I kind of expected her to go down from there, what with both Sheets companies pushing on her so hard, but she drifted up to 9/2. I guess the support for the other two girls was just too strong, and this time, the bettors were right and the "sheets" guys weren't!
By the way, in full disclosure, when V V's Dream drifted up to 9/2, I bought the Sheets case and played her to win. She ran decently to finish 3rd, and the 25 points she earned for the KY Oaks may or may not be enough to get her into the Oaks gate. But I basically play in a backyard sand box and not on Waikiki Beach, so it didn't hurt me much!

So happy to see Star Guitar producing some really nice runners. He had a very good weekend at FG. He was such a cool horse.Squeaky wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 8:28 pmHighest Beyer since Flightline. Unless I'm forgetting someone, I think he is the only good son of Quiet American carrying on that line. Was sad that we lost Real Quiet so young.

The only other one that comes to mind is Midnight Lute(Real Quiet). Though he is 21 now and hasn't had any sire sons shine, though Smooth Like Straight entered stud at War Horse this year. Since Smooth Like Straight is a turf runner though who knows what kind of support he gets.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 10:10 pm Unless I'm forgetting someone, I think he is the only good son of Quiet American carrying on that line. Andrew Beyer: Ova Charged's 113 was not overestimated

Throughout her career, Ova Charged has been managed judiciously by former trainer Jose Camejo and current trainer Shane Wilson. She has been entered in the right spots, and has been favored to win most of her races. But her performance on Sunday indicates that she is ready for more serious challenges. The figure of 113 suggests that she belongs in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint.

Glad to see her back- didn’t she have a breathing issue? Would love to see her return to her earlier promise. Is she still with Tom Amoss?stelladaniella wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 9:11 pm Hoosier Philly makes her 4 year old debut on March 30 in the Matron Stakes at Oaklawn.
