And boy does Babe sound down and depressed about WA. No plans at all. At least the horse sounds like he is ok. Wonder if his sore feet acted up on that deep sandy track? Also glad he is back at BEL where trainer can watch him daily. If he were mine I would ship to SAR as soon as track opens for training and train there for Met Mile and Whitney.

The surface over there has been lauded by American trainers for its kindness on the horses. It is deep but soft with some bounce to it due to the wood bark mixed in.
I can understand Dutrow's initial disappointment, but horse has run plenty of sub par races before, it's not like he is coming off of some Cigar-like winning streak. Time to start looking forward.

I think he thought he had WA “fixed” by using glue on shoes. It seems it is not that simple with “ the white horse”. I think some farm time followed by SAR training would be good for him.Northport wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2024 12:08 pm The surface over there has been lauded by American trainers for its kindness on the horses. As nice as the Saudi track surface is considered to be, maybe White Abarrio just didn't like it?

Those bark surfaces are usually pretty kind to horses with bad feet. The bark does act like a sponge when there is a lot of water present. The Fairplex surface had bark mixed in to it. There’s an old poem about a girl with a curl. I think White Abarrio fits that more than anything else.

What's an iffy horse?
Ouchy?
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Happy to see him win-looking forward to a great year for the big handsome gray for Bill Mott . Worthwhile trip from SoCal for Flavian Prat who also won the Whitmore on Jaxson Traveler for Asmussen.

Jaxon Traveler wins the Whitmore S. (G3) at Oaklawn.
He is a 6 y/o entire, very consistent. Hope he has a great year and eventually a stud career in a regional market.

Rocket Can won his first start since last year's Kentucky Derby today at Oaklawn. He won last year's Holy Bull (gr. III) and is a grandson of Tough Tiz's Sis.
