Lots of nicely bred horses.
Hip 84 - has the pedigree to set up a great name if the buyer takes it - by Volatile out of Boom Boom Boom
The Lothenbach Dispersal 2yos are in here, or at least some are.

here we usually mention the "best" pedigrees in the sale. does anyone want to do the opposite and find the emptiest/blandest pages in the catalogue, for no other reason than just... because? i'm going to skim through and list some but i might miss a bunch so if anyone wants to join in this ???? fun go right ahead and list your finds!

I've done that before. Its interesting because pedigrees don't mean nearly as much in these sales, it all comes down to their work times. I mean we can use Maymun as an example from last year(he sold in the April sale). His page is pretty sparse. https://obscatalog.com/apr/2023/449.PDF Only one G3 winner under his 3rd dam, dam produced nothing from quite a few foals of racing age. But he put out a good work time, sold for 900k, time will tell if he is actually good, though he looked good in his debut.brunanas wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2024 9:01 pm here we usually mention the "best" pedigrees in the sale. does anyone want to do the opposite and find the emptiest/blandest pages in the catalogue, for no other reason than just... because? i'm going to skim through and list some but i might miss a bunch so if anyone wants to join in this ???? fun go right ahead and list your finds!
I was going to say Search for 4th dam (cause that usually means a lighter page) but holy crap, I'm not typing that many. hahaha

there isn't MUCH so far, at least in the early part of the book, but i stopped on 140 in case anyone wants to carry on from here (lowkey please do my attention span is equivalent to a dead goldfish's attention span but i'm curious) but here the 4 that i found so far:
#13 c. by Bee Jersey, there are 4 stakes winners on the page, one being graded (and he is a ½ to the 4th dam);
#48 f. by Stormy Atlantic, 2 stakes winners on the page, one graded (G3);
#93 c. by Honest Mischief, 0 stakes winners on the page — but a lot of them raced outside of the USA so they might have won races that are only stakes/graded in their countries;
#127 f. by Global Campaign, 2 stakes winners on the page, none graded. there aren't even graded placings in this one.

and searching for 4th dam is a good idea. i'll try to get my mind focused enough tomorrow to like, go through maybe half of the results.

hip 809 is a 1/2 to a G3SW only blacktype on the page besides the 4th dam being a 1/2 to a Spw.

I gotta get on a work call but I was just scrolling from the bottom up, looking for more white space than usual.
Hip 705 - c. Solomini x St Edmond's Girl is pretty bare.
Hip 777 - c. Mr Money x Tres Peach doesn't have a whole lot.
Hip 819 has Vequist, Vedareo, and Mainstay under her second dam and that's it. Vequist is a champion and 819 is also by Nyquist, so definitely worth taking a risk on, but yikes otherwise.

Very positive and interesting because the Lothenbach horses didn't breeze, they only galloped. So he didn't have a work time at all and still made 1.2m

And I'm happy to know that she was NOT purchased by a Japanese, haha, as I look forward to seeing her run on the US dirt.
