Same question from me. I haven't heard anything about his getting out either. And maybe I'm imagining things, but it seems to me that his barn and horses have been doing kind of good in recent weeks. This is really a surprise to me!

This article kind of explains things- wants to spend more time with grandchildren/ family and his construction business which ( disturbingly to me as I am all for preserving open land-seems like everyone wants to move to Montana) is starting a 2000 home development project in Montana. Keeping a few horses for daughter to train, may sell one of his farms that he purchased a few months ago. https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing ... dispersals

Is he trying to build on the Yellowstone...the Dutton Ranch? ;)
Seriously, one of the main threads throughout the "Yellowstone" series is about the fight to keep Montana from being spoiled by development.

Sorry was away all day. I was going to say there wasn't an article when I had looked. To me its not a surprise really. He has quit training multiple times(actually last year was the first time he trained since 2019) and hasn't really had anything of note as an owner or trainer since 2018. And just cause I saw it when I had searched the other day, I forgot that in 2018 he threw a tantrum and said he was leaving California racing because they didn't give him as much stall space as he wanted at Santa Anita. He didn't. I mean I suppose he did as a trainer himself.

He also had a falling out with his own daughter at one point and pulled the horses that she had trained for him. He seems to like big dramatic decisions.

Agree seems like an emotional pretty impulsive guy. He got lucky with one decent horse who seems to be a pretty good stallion. Maybe he just needs to be happy with that for now.

Congrats to Mick for his win against the CHRB. Granted, he probably spent more in lawyer fees than the settlement, but he proved his point and I'm happy for him.
