He had a relatively successful career, but it always felt like he was an under-achiever.

Fusaichi Zenon (JPN), a son of Sunday Silence, was found in an auction pen tonight. Gets dumped as a 27-year-old stallion that won over $700k while racing, and stood stud in California and New Mexico. Hopefully he can be saved.

If you mean them talking about only other sire standing in kentucky it wouldn't be distorted humor. He wasn't horse of the year.

Normally not a fan of donating to buy from kill pens but I would make an exception for this guy. Link to post about this?

Where did people post about Fusaichi Zenon?

ETA: Found one post. Looks like he was saved and will be going to someone in California.

27 y/o Fusaichi Zenon (by Sunday Silence) will be transferred to Kingfisher Farms in California, where he will spend the rest of his days.

Fusaichi Zenon was a G2W in Japan and raced in the USA (finishing fourth in a G1). He is the sire of numerous stakes winners out west.

Fusaichi Zenon had at one time stood at Magali Farms (closed in 2017, bought by Barton Thoroughbreds). He most recently stood at Weatherly Farms in New Mexico, which also closed.

Poor guy is getting moved around and rehomed a bit.
Just happened to come accross this online auction sale for him one year ago, for $7500...
Interesting tidbit on that sale ad - "XIXIXI started his stallion career in PA but a disease on the farm wiped out most of the progeny in his first three crops.'
A disease for 3 years....?!?

Hopefully someone reputable steps up to give him a forever home, I think we can assume it won't be Ahmed Zayat.

Grade 1 Winner Slow Down Andy Retired
https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing ... dy-retired
The connections hope Slow Down Andy can begin a stud career this year despite missing the start of breeding season.

"There's nothing on the table yet, but we're hoping there's options and he can breed some mares this year," O'Neill said. "If I had a mare, I'd breed to him."

I would guess it wasn't 3 years of disease and it was something that causes pregnancy loss and death in young stock. Which from looking at the breeding stats from those years he didn't really have a lot of foals to begin with. 2017 - 10 foals, 2018 - 11 foals, 2019 - 2 foals (from 25 mares bred). I just can't find anything for that specific farm. If it was something super contagious, which I think it would have to be, there would have been a quarantine. Unless I just missed finding it, searching can be really hit or miss. Or maybe they were stabled elsewhere?

Some notes:
He had 5 starters from his 2017 crop (on Equibase)
0 from his 2018 crop
2 from his 2019 crop

That's too bad. When he first got injured last year they were very keen to bring him back to run this year. Heaven knows we need all the older dirt stakes horses that we can get. Must've had another big setback to retire him this time of year.
