Two Emmy's was from being bumped into the rail so either he was working with another horse that drifted in or just another horse that was working came in and bumped him?
But it raises the question of, how many breakdowns during races are caused by horses jostling around and bumping each other? The connections of Freezing Point (who brokedown in the Pat Day Mile on KY Derby Day), said it was due to being bumped hard. To me it makes sense that if a horse was in a certain point of their stride with one leg down, holding all their weight and got impacted hard, it could cause an injury to happen, more so if they already had a slight issue that hadn't been found yet.
I personally have sustained a severely sprained ankle (the doctor was certain my ankle was broken) from having a leg planted when I tried to run from a cicada that was flying at me and panic made me forget there was something behind me. Was it stupid? Yes. Would I do it again? Yes. Those things are terrifying.

Agree. It's one of the reasons I hate seeing certain riders (ahemiortizcough) haze/herd/crowd other horses. Forcing another horse to suddenly have to sidestep/change paths mid-stride is not harmless...no matter how many stewards are blase about the tactic.

omg i was ready to address the rest of your post then i read that and lughed. sorry lol. i bet it hurt like a mother but i completely agree. they're neat til they start flying, then they're terrifying.
but yeah, i meant more like forceful/rough contact in general (relative to the control a 100lb jockey has over an 1100lb horse, of course, sometimes unfortunately things will happen that no one immediately involved can stop) so i'm glad you brought that all up. like BA1, it's why irad scares the hell out of me, he's gonna cause one of these one day. i pray the racing gods never let it happen.

1/13 - Notlongtilmay (GB) broke his shoulder after falling in the Silviniaco Conti chase (G2). His trainer, Laura Morgan was understandably devastated and in tears on ITV Racing after explaining that he had to be euthanized.
https://www.racingpost.com/news/reports ... LR0H9fBSC/Morgan told ITV Racing: "It's absolutely horrendous, he didn't deserve that. He just took a nasty fall at the last and broke his shoulder. He's been our stable star and it's just so upsetting. He's been huge, it'll leave a massive hole in the yard every day.
"He was such a character, we brought him here with a little pony called Ernie who always goes racing with him."

Awful news that groom Perfecto Diaz has died at Oaklawn following a training accident.

Something weird coming out of Germany.
News broke that a stakes winning and stakes producing mare named So Royal (1999. Royal Solo - Seta Pura) "starved to death" in December. This caused a little uproar in German tabloids and general media over horse racing of course being evil, and the person who is listed as her owner on her Turf Times website profile was (I assume) the victim of horrible messages. Investigation proved that the owner listed hasn't owned So Royal in years, and since being sold by that owner has been owned by three other people.
I haven't been able to find other articles about So Royal. My assumption is that she likely fell into the hands of someone who bit off more than they could chew, and as a result, had a bunch of livestock they neglected.
Regardless R.I.P. So Royal. She is the dam of MSW Sun At Work and GSP Sonic Flight.
