Recently, in South Africa, 2 y/o c. Snow Pilot (Lancaster Bomber) won the G1 Cape Guineas. I think he is the second or third G1W for the late sire, who only has two (maybe one) crops.

Well wouldn't you know it...both of these guys are entered in a race at Meydan on Friday. Race 6, a handicap 10 furlongs on dirt.
They are both being trained in Dubai by Doug Watson.

Significant dispersal sale of jumps horses coming up in Ireland it was announced unexpectedly today! Horses include a Grade 1 winner as well as hopefuls for the Cheltenham Festival.
The owners have decided to disperse their stock after losing two horses within the space of several weeks, they are taking a break from the sport.

https://www.racingtv.com/news/tattersal ... ersal-saleThe owners shared a statement on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday evening following the news. The statement posted on the @caldwell_horses page said: “Further to the sad loss of one of our young horses D B Cooper again as a family we are absolutely heartbroken. Also we lost Smooth Player only just 2 weeks ago. Having a young family it’s hard to cope with such losses and therefore we feel it is time for a break from the sport
.
“We would also like to thank Gordon and his team for their hard work and support the last few years and wish them all the best.

Kabirkhan is running at Meydan tomorrow in the 6th race (forgot the stakes name), a $1 million 1 3/16-mile run on the dirt. Hope he does well.

That is huge and very sad news. They were major supporters of the sport and Gordon. They also lost hugely promising Mighty Potter last season, so they have had their fair share of bad luck. Except for partially Paul and Clare Rooney a few years ago, I can’t remember a big jumps owner so quickly and publicly pulling out of the game due to losing their horses. Can’t blame them at all.Le Beau Bai wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 6:30 pm Significant dispersal sale of jumps horses coming up in Ireland it was announced unexpectedly today! Nor can I.
It is terribly sad they lost those horses. However, having a notable owner leave the sport, while publicly stating it's because too many of their horses DIED, is not going to go unnoticed by the PETA types in Britain, I suspect.

KABIRKHAN just won the Al Maktoum Challenge Round I (UAEG1) in Dubai defeating several good horses.
It is recognized as a G2 internationally I think.

UAE is whatever their races say. IDK why so many sources aren't putting the Round # in the race name when they have 3 races named the same thing. This was Round 2 and must have been elevated to G1 status for 2024, as it was G2 last year.
As for where he goes next they said maybe Round 3 or straight to the Dubai World Cup, Saudi Arabia was not mentioned.

I've now realized that what Kabirkhan has won is not ''Al Maktoum Challenge RoundⅠ'' any more but ''Al Maktoum Challenge''
And this new (renamed) one has a G1 status internationally!!

So weird cause some sites were calling it the right name then and others were calling it Round 2. I wonder if they renamed all 3 of them? Cause the trainer said they might run in Round 3 and I just don't see one, besides the Pure Arabian ones. Unless he means the Al Maktoum Classic(G2) on March 2nd?tachyon wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 8:01 pmYes.Flanders wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 7:51 pmUAE is whatever their races say. But I suspect that UAE has realigned its key races and schedules this year, as the Saudi Cup Day meeting (Feb 23rd & 24th), which also sets up for the DWC Day meeting (March 30th & 31st), has been increasing presence most recently.
The G1 Jebel Hatta on turf has also been moved forward to Jan 26th this year from March 4th in 2023.
And Dubai Carnival has now only one race run under the name of ''Al Maktoum Challenge'' (for thoroughbreds) this year which is won yesterday by the California Chrome colt.
