DRUM ROLL PLEASE won the Jerome Stakes at Aqueduct today (race #3). His record is now 5-2-1-1, which includes a 3rd in the Remsen last fall. The time in the Jerome was slow. They ran the half in 49 at which point DRP was last in the field of 5. Slow place usually makes it easier for leaders to prevail, but DRP just ran right by them, taking the widest trip in the process. He won rather easily by over 3 lengths. His first stakes win and he earned 10 KD points for a total now of 13.

Dang! DRUM ROLL PLEASE is off the Derby trail. Injury during training. Left hind ankle, I think. Sounds like they do expect him to return to training, though. Glad it wasn't worse.

PENNICK won race #8 at Fairgrounds today. She is now 2 for 2 on synthetic and dirt (sloppy). She was ridden by Jareth Loveberry who also rode Two Phil's last year. Looked like she "won" the gallop out, too.

MOON SPUN ran valiantly in defeat by one head after a wide trip in her debut race. She was closing steadily and just ran out of track. She showed a lot of heart. She surely has some wins in her future.

SPARKLE BLUE won the G2 Hillsborough Stakes at Tampa Bay today. No one wanted the lead, so she took it and held them all at bay to the wire. GOOD GIRL! This is her first G2 win. She had previously won a G3 and several Black Type races.
