And Teruya Yoshida, owner of Shadai Farm, looked very happy today, too.
It was Teruya Yoshida who decided to send India Mantuana to Palace Malice after discussion with Naoya Yoshida.
India Mantura had been deposited to Naoya Yoshida's Winchester Farm in Kentucky at that time before moving to Japan.

I was really curious what went into that decision, since Palace Malice was not popular at the time. Amazing they were able to get a GSW mare for "only" $100,000, too.

That's the way Teruya Yoshida can be recognized as an outstanding breeder!!
But I guess that Naoya Yoshida also played a key role in that decision, too.
Now that Palace Malice stands at Darley Japan, it's going to be VERY interesting to see if Shadai (Teruya Yoshida) will send India Mantura again to the son of Curlin.
She was bred to a Shadai resident Isla Bonita(JPN)(Fuji Kiseki) this year.

Yes, and I noticed she was listed in the catalog in foal to Accelerate when they bought her. But no live foal was reported for her that year.

Likely favorite Stars on Earth drew the widest barrier!!
Since 1986, no horse ever finished in the money starting from the 16 barrier in the Arima Kinen.

Almond Eye's popularity shown in these ballots didn't surprise me at all.
She's always been fans' favorite in every starts after she won the Oka Sho with her superb turn of foot.
And her 2nd Japan Cup victory in her swansong made her a true legend.
For me, it was especially nice to see old greats Silence Suzuka and Sakura Bakushin O still voted to top choices for the Takatazuka Kinen and the Sprinters Stakes, respectively.
I was also glad to see a regally-bred King Halo voted to s close second to Lord Kanaloa for the Takamatsunomiya Kinen.
He is now known as an excellent broodmare sire.

Stars on Earth became the first horse in the Arima Kinen history to finish in the money from the #16 post.
Titleholder ran his swansong in a credible fashion and will be a popular stallion as the son of Duramente! - - Duramente has notched the ''2023 JRA Leading Sire'' title with the money earned by Stars on Earth and Titleholder in this race beating Lord Kanaloa.
Justin Palace ran his race to finish 4th and, like Do Deuce and Stars on Earth, will remain in training next year!
Overall, that was a good Arima Kinen!!

Yutaka Take previously won the Arima Kinen with Oguri Cap (1990), Deep Impact (2006) and Kitasan Black (2017).
And after 33 years, racing fans still talk about Oguri Cap's miraculous victory in his swansong Arima Kinen!!!!!!
That was truly a great race.
