That'd be my guess since he's not recorded as having bred any mares in 2023 by the jockey club. But he could've been exported to, cause he'd be young to be a pensioner unless he had fertility issues. Though if he is pensioned my guess is he'd still be at Irish Hill

Him being pensioned is mentioned in this article but they were still working on where he was going.
https://www.nytbreeders.org/news/2023/0 ... st-winner/
Weekend Hideaway stood four seasons at Irish Hill and Dutchess Views Stallions in Stillwater. He bred 17 mares in his first season in 2019, and 10 in back-to-back seasons in 2020 and 2021, according to statistics from The Jockey Club. Serpe said Weekend Hideaway was pensioned following the 2022 season and that plans were in the works for a permanent retirement home.

don't remember if this has already been reported here, but Taiba was booked full in one day with "300 applications".

I thought he was a good value, and I'm glad I got one, but he booked up so fast I couldn't get more mares to him. He had 300 applications on the first day they announced he was going to go to stud.

and as to how many mares were accepted, knowing Spendthrift, i'll be shocked if his book is smaller than 250.

Spendthrift is another farm I don't like. Pretty on the outside but a revolving door on the inside. If Taiba doesn't make a splash fast hell be another one that goes out that door.

Calumet must really want to get rid of Hence. He's entered in the Keeneland January sale, as is Fog of War.

Its like they want to really get rid of him but they want more than people are willing to pay. Someone bid 42k on him last year and he RNA'd. And he is just going to continue to lose value because he has never been bred even though he has been standing at stud for multiple years.

As for Fog of War, he has terrible fertility, unless everyone registered his live foals super super late. I wonder if they didn't have fertility insurance.
2021 bred/2022 foal - 28 live foals from 92 mares (30%)
2022 bred/2023 foal - 16 live foals from 44 mares (36%)
2023 bred - 2 mares

So seems like fog of war might be better off heading for somewhere like old friends

I forgot I could check on Bloodhorse horse cards, as he wasn't on the stallion directory. Strangely enough it did end up being late registering foals and not fertility related, at least his first year and if its the same breeders registering late foals the 2023 foals might not even be reported yet.... first year is actually 56 out of 93(?) dont know why the mare bred numbers changed by +1(I did double check I didn't type the wrong number). His 2nd year is now 17 live foals(44%). So that made me think, do breeders look at the breeding stats and see oh wow he had terrible fertility, I'm not going to use him, leading to his 2 mares bred in 2023? The JC does not go back and retroactively add to breeding stats once they are released in late September/early October. But he had exactly twice as many live foals as reported in time to make the 2022 foaling stats. And thought 60% isn't great its still low end of average.

Simplification has a consistent racing record. Could be a sleeper stallion that eventually moves from FL to KY. Hoping his babies do well at the track.

Yeah last year people were shilling out big buckeroos for those Calumet stallions (or more than I thought they would) and I think they all RNA'd, then weren't privately sold. Makes zero sense, but nothing Calumet seems to do does. However all their sins would be forgiven if they'd allow public tours. :D

Hence would make a lovely stallion for a regional market. He did his best racing out west.

Haha. Oh boy. Watching their videos of the stallions being ridden is funny. I am glad they exercise them, but the rider(s) are horrible.
