Good for them! Still another testament to the stewardship they continue to practice. Wish I could say the same for this side of the Pacific!

I had a spot in my heart for that filly. She's a half to Shackelford, out of Oatsee, and I was a big fan of her sire Orientate. I predicted that Orientate would be a really good sprint sire, but of course, my crystal ball was on the blink the day I predicted that! Also, she was trained by Carl Nafzger, and at that time, there was nobody on the planet that didn't love him!

Also, one other thing about Lady Joanne.....and that's the pronunciation of her name! I always said it like "Joanne Woodward"....Lady Jo---Anne. But then a whole bunch of broadcasters and turf writers said her name "Joanie".......like "'Joanie Love's Chachi". So, after nearly 20 years, does anybody know how this GI filly winner's name should be pronounced? Maybe I'm having a little fun here, but I still would like to know!

Very shocking that Danedream’s death wasn’t a headline this Summer, she was a superstar.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen all of the Turkish stallions and covering stats in one place before. They have a lot more stallions covering a lot more mares than I thought. With those numbers and decent quality stallions, I’m surprised we don’t see their horses at more of the international meets. They’re clearly invested in improving their bloodstock, at least on the stallion side. No idea about mares
