Honestly the whole thing screams that when the private offers didn't come the owner got scared (and probably with good reason) that he wouldn't meet whatever outrageous reserve he set for the horse and chickened out.
At any rate, I hope he lands somewhere safe, wherever it may be.

If the horse as a reserve can it be removed before the sale?Calypso wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 6:43 pm Honestly the whole thing screams that when the private offers didn't come the owner got scared (and probably with good reason) that he wouldn't meet whatever outrageous reserve he set for the horse and chickened out.

Unless I'm mistaken, in order for a horse to be housed in the Hall Of Champions, it has to be a Champion.......of the Eclipse Award variety, which Rich Strike is not! Horses who are not Eclipse-Award winners have resided many times at the KHP in other exhibit areas, but not in the HOC. Maybe I'm wrong on that, but in the over 40 years I've been following racing, I don't remember any horse going to the KHP Hall Of Champions without an Eclipse Award.brunanas wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 3:47 pmsince when does that mean he can't go?Justahorse wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 3:39 pmHe's mean that's whystelladaniella wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 3:32 pm
Yeah, I feel bad for him. All this back and forth, maybe yes no maybe.. Why not send him to the hall of champions or something?
Da Hoss maybe? I don't think he won an Eclipse Award, but maybe he lived in the Hall Of Champions? That's the only possible exception I can think of.

Not once the sale starts. And even though he was in the HORA portion that had a separate catalog, its still all the November sale so no.Justahorse wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 7:12 pmIf the horse as a reserve can it be removed before the sale?Calypso wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 6:43 pm Honestly the whole thing screams that when the private offers didn't come the owner got scared (and probably with good reason) that he wouldn't meet whatever outrageous reserve he set for the horse and chickened out.

I'm guessing Dawson was hoping for a private offer before the sale and was going to withdraw him. It happens. Or everyone said, there is no way this horse is meeting the reserve, so its pointless to put him through the sale. Like we wont ever know what the reserve was but he could have put like a 10m reserve, which is absurd but could very well have happened.

Thank you. That was the ONLY thread I didn't check. I checked this one, 2024 fees and 2023 RMB threads. I thought it was announced but then I couldn't find anything.brunanas wrote: ↑Fri Nov 17, 2023 7:17 amJapan. for whatever reason the link i posted on my original reply no longer works, and i can't find anything confirming it anymore, but it's Japan.

But I can't confirm it in any Japanese source yet.Mastery has been relocated to Lex Stud in Japan.
There hasn't been any press release from Lex Stud.
And Japanese Studbook hasn't had his arrival record to Japan yet as of today.

What a gorgeous horse.
I was surprised to see him unloading with nekkid legs. I usually see horses that have been traveling with their legs very well-wrapped.

It’s not unusual for legs to be naked if it’s a really long trip. If they kick or stomp, the wrap can slide down and become a nuisance, especially if it is hard for a human to slide into the trailer/shipping container to get the trampled wraps out. It’s also not ideal for them to stand in wraps for 20+ hours. Our boys make their 24 hour pilgrimage to Florida each winter with naked legs. Maybe just some bell boots for the more delinquent of the bunch.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 17, 2023 4:20 pm What a gorgeous horse.
