I've been thinking about him too. I can't see anything "out of the ordinary" really - last start oct 2022, he did post workouts up until April 2 this year.

Was there ever any news on AP Indys half brother, Eavesdropper? He was kidnapped in Libya in January of 2020
As of May this year, his whereabouts were still unknown.

No. But in the initial incident if a horse refused to go, they were killed so...I would imagine that continued. I don't think they'll ever find the rest of the missing horses, they only found 38 of 59 that were stolen. When they were found they were also starving. I don't believe they have found any horses after that first group. Two other stallions, Churchill Downs and Back Draft, are also still missing.stelladaniella wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 11:19 am Was there ever any news on AP Indys half brother, Eavesdropper? DRF has an article that Woodbine had to cancel the final race on Nov. 19th after a starting gate accident. Apprentice jockey Desean Bynoe and an unnamed assistant starter were taken to the hospital, the horse, Beer Mosa, was not injured.

Golden Sun Drops brokedown at Fair Grounds, R2. It looked bad.
Trained by Marcus Vitali, how is he still allowed near a horse?

I’d strongly suspect that was a fatal fall, given how the horse was on the ground unfortunately. Someone who was there has also tweeted that the ambulance went over but the owner was crying, so not sure it’s a positive outcomeJustahorse wrote: ↑Sun Nov 26, 2023 10:42 am Orchard Grove went head over heels in the 5th at Exeter any news on both horse and jockey would be appreciated it looked pretty bad
I’ve heard nothing on the rider, so I’m assuming he’s okay if not a bit bruised.

It truly does not good and he wasn't the only one who went down. Is it common for European horses to have such long breaks like some American horses do?

I think it is especially if they're jumpers. I feel so bad for the owners and connectionsAkitaperson wrote: ↑Sun Nov 26, 2023 5:34 pmLe Beau Bai wrote: ↑Sun Nov 26, 2023 5:17 pmI’d strongly suspect that was a fatal fall, given how the horse was on the ground unfortunately. In a word yes, there are two jump seasons and basically two flat seasons. Jumping wise, the summer season is end of May through to the Charlie Hall chase in October, summer jumps horses tend to not have as much ability (there are no graded races in summer if I remember correctly) or they prefer firmer going. Horses racing in jump season proper (now), have more opportunities for racing as there are more meetings plus there are graded races to be had. Horses tend to have a long layoff between seasons although some horses will compete all year round.Akitaperson wrote: ↑Sun Nov 26, 2023 5:34 pmLe Beau Bai wrote: ↑Sun Nov 26, 2023 5:17 pmI’d strongly suspect that was a fatal fall, given how the horse was on the ground unfortunately. It’s the same for flat racing but the opposite way round, all-weather is over the winter (but again does run all year), horses can compete towards the All-Weather flat championship in April. We have very little in the way of flat turf here in winter, it’s too wet and would ruin the turf for the spring and summer meets. True turf horses are likely to be on a layoff or send abroad during this time, but again horses will compete all year round and run on both surfaces.
Horses tend to have more time off between jump races, obviously they are competing over much longer distances but some horses will run more frequently as that is their preferred way whereas sone you’ll only see a few times a season as they run much better fresh off a long break from the racecourse (but are still being trained).

“ It's with both sadness & affection we note the loss of one of our stable favourites, multiple winner Orchard Grove, who couldn't be saved following yesterday's fall.
A terrier of a horse who simply adored racing & a character loved by all our team. Gone, but never forgotten x”
