I think the more interesting part of his sale, is that Feature Mr Jess died 13 1/2 years ago, in Feb of 2009 from Laminitis. He was only 11. I thought originally there was a time limit on using frozen semen (something like a year). Apparently not any more.
Mr Pacmann set a record for a yearling racing American Quarter Horse sold at public auction on September 2, 2023, at the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, when the hammer was brought down at $1 million.
The colt was purchased by Elite Racing, and was consigned by Jumonville Farms, Agent for Bunny and J.E. Jumonville, Jr.
He is the first Feature Me Jess Colt sold at Ruidoso in 10 years, and is out of the Stoli mare Faith And Courage, making him a half brother to stakes horses Jessalittlecourage ($183,023), Dashing With Courage ($135,483) and Blue Courage ($79,491).
Feature Mr Jess has sired the earners of more than $24.9 million, led by Heartswideopen ($1,885,283).
Another horse also brought a solid price, as Hip 278 Hott Favorite brought a final price of $725,000 from Hott Favorite Partners. He was consigned by Fulton Quien Sabe Ranches, LP.
The colt is a half-brother to champion Hotstepper ($1,336,359), Grade 1 winner Hotsempting ($682,793) and Grade 1-placed In Hott Pursuit ($358,218). He is sired by Favorite Cartel and is out of the Tres Seis mare Pandorum.
