Durezza(JPN) became the second JRA G1 winner o/o a More Than Ready mare following Cafe Pharoah(USA).
His dam More Than Sacred(AUS), 2013 NZ Oaks winner, is a lovely mare, too.

Needless to say, Ushba Tesoro is Japan's biggest hope in the biggest race on the BC Day!

That seems a smaller field than I usually see for one of the big Japanese stakes. Has Equinox caused some runners to swerve this race and look for easier spots?

I really like this horse. People see ran 5th in the Dubai Sheema and discount him. I am considering as a longshot for my exotics.
Does anyone know if he had epiglotta surgery or anything?
Also any other "info" you might have on him.

Yes, usually you'll see 18 or so. Equinox is a tremendous talent but they are all mortal.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2023 2:37 pm That seems a smaller field than I usually see for one of the big Japanese stakes. Has Equinox caused some runners to swerve this race and look for easier spots?

Shahryar underwent a surgery on his epiglottic entrapment in August.MySaladDays wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2023 6:14 pmI really like this horse. People see ran 5th in the Dubai Sheema and discount him. I am considering as a longshot for my exotics.

He has been winless since the 2022 Dubai Sheema Classic.
But if the turf condition is firm and he can show his true self, the 2021 Japanese Derby winner would be tough to beat in the BC Turf!!

I've just looked back on history now.
This is a Tenno Sho Autumn run with the smallest field (11 horses) since 1980.
In the recent years, the 2020 version was run with 12 horses and won by the race-favorite Almond Eye.

Not exactly sure where this goes but look at the line to see the pensioner Admire Japan appear at a pop-up store!
