Gosden told Nick Luck today that the likely next target for her is now the BC Filly and Mare Turf.
Don’t like to see “Champions” Day take the hits it does when the going almost always ends up soft or heavy, but it does end up with horses redirecting to the Breeder’s Cup now and then, so I can’t be too upset.

Did Mostahadaf run? I just got to see a replay and couldn't find him in the field.
Good win by King of Steel and Frankie, since big horses like him don't usually love heavy ground.

Away from Ascot, we’ve had a lot of race meetings cancelled due to flooding. Three people have now died as a result, places being affected from Scotland down to the South. Local to me there has been pleas from people for stables due to fields flooding.
Here is a photo from Worcester Racecourse in the Midlands, they’re waiting for the water to recede before they are able to assess the damage. There was due to be racing there on the 25th.

That is a lake, not a racecourse.
Fingers crossed that Mostahadaf's owners decide to bring him over to Santa Anita for the BC Turf.

King of Steel was raised by a nurse mare after his mother died - here he is as a foal and today wins the Champion Stakes at Ascot. Gotta love those draft mares.

Looks like a Gypsy Horse/Gypsy Vanner mare. Very sweet horses.

Derby hero Desert Crown put down after failing to recover from serious injuryLe Beau Bai wrote: ↑Sun Aug 20, 2023 7:39 amhttps://www.racingpost.com/news/festiv ... j12B79ih8/Desert Crown will miss a potential clash with Paddington and Mostahdaf in the Juddmonte International at York on Wednesday after sustaining an injury on the gallops on Sunday morning.
The Sir Michael Stoute-trained four-year-old pulled up lame after morning exercise and has been taken to the Newmarket Equine Hospital.
Bruce Raymond, racing manager to owner Saeed Suhail, said on Sunday: "He's got quite a bad injury and I'm just heading to the equine hospital now. He won't be running at York."

"As has been well recorded he fractured his off-fore leg for which he had to have 16 screws inserted. Everything seemed to be going well but he put so much pressure on his near fore when he stood on it that it was unsustainable. He was put down humanely at NEH where the surgeons have been outstanding."
