Switched back to FSN2's Belmont coverage and heard the analysts talking about jockey D. Brown being transported to the hospital. I didn't see the 6th race, so I don't know what happened, or if his mount, Perfect Senorita, was injured.

I don't think the filly could have survived.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 3:27 pm Switched back to FSN2's Belmont coverage and heard the analysts talking about jockey D. Edit to add: She was euthanized on the track.

Thank you for that sad news. Sounds like it was bad...did that swamp of a surface have anything to do with it?

I don't know what happened really. She was almost off screen when she went down but sometimes you know instantly that there is no hope. This was one of those times. Another horse might have pushed her out a few strides before she brokedown but I don't want to watch the replay. She wasn't near another horse when she went down.

I saw he is entered at Parx on October 2nd. Hasn't had a workout since April.Flanders wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 7:51 pm If anyone sees/hears anything about Big Popper, I'd appreciate it. I know the chart says he was eased and walked off. This was his 3rd DNF in 12 starts and he is only a 3yo, the first 2 were because he essentially refused to race, maybe his most recent start was as well. I happened upon him at some point and I've been following him for a couple months. He races a lot and never does well.

3yo Arrogate colt, Rodin, broke down during the 7th race at Horseshoe Indianapolis on the far turn. It looked really, really bad so I assume he didn't survive but still...

Still alive at the time of this article. Surgery is planned.

Terribly disappointed that we won't get to see this lightning-fast filly show her heels to everyone in the BC, but as Asmussen said; "As long as she stays alive, I'll be OK..."

Nope. They, imo, rightfully didn't give any information on where or when the surgery was scheduled besides "Saturday". I understand fans being worried for her, I am one of them, but some take that way beyond and would be slamming the clinic with phone calls. I would assume they'll give an update after the surgery.

Fiske: Echo Zulu Surgery `Went As Well As Could Be Expected'
https://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/f ... -expected/
Echo Zulu (Gun Runner) had successful surgery today to repair her two broken sesamoids in her left front leg and the surgery “went as well as could be expected” said David Fiske, racing manager to co-owner Ron Winchell.
“She's out of surgery,” said Fiske. “Out of recovery. (It) went as well as could be expected. Prognosis guarded. A lot depends on sufficient blood supply to the surgery site and how well she can take care of herself.”
The surgery was performed by veterinarian Ryan Carpenter. “The surgery went very good,” said Carpenter. “She's up and headed back to the barn. From this point on, we take it day by day. These cases are not out of the woods for the next four to six weeks but every good day is a day closer to a successful outcome.”
