I think when they sell very low like that or don't sell at all then the vet check is unfortunately not that good.brunanas wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 3:27 pm #2866 (Get Stormy — Charming She Is) had gotten to $2,000 but all bidders removed their bids so she left the ring at $0. there are no conformation shots of her and her page is pretty plain, but she didn't look... bad? i wonder what put buyers off of her so much.
same with this Honor Code, also got to $2,000 and then back to $0. page also empty, you can see through the 4th dam, but he also doesn't look horrible? not the most beautiful horse in the sale, but dang. must suck for the breeder.

Trinniberg's 1/2 brother goes for just $22k. Must've vetted poorly, I assume.

Depends really. His highest and lowest price have been fillies. Average for the 23 that have sold so far is 75.6k. Highest price 250k, lowest price 6.5k. 10 were 35k or lower (that was his stud fee in 2021). He doesn't have anymore in the sale, his 2 in session 11 are outs and none in session 12.

I'm waiting to see what the Always Dreaming's that are in the sale go for. His average for the year is 5.4k. His only 3 in the entire sale are in Session 11 and 12(he also had one Out in one of these sessions).
I do have a question though, is it common for yearlings to go through the sale with front shoes? While I haven't looked at every horse through the sale, I looked at a lot and this is the first one I've seen in shoes. I would guess that means the horse has really bad feet?

Almost all the sales yearlings wear front shoes. Some have back shoes on as well. The pea stone walkways where they're shown to buyers (often as many as 100 times) are very hard on their feet. Plus, the vast majority of those yearlings have never spent time on a surface other than grass before shipping to the sale so their feet haven't previously had a need to toughen up.Flanders wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2023 6:03 am I'm waiting to see what the Always Dreaming's that are in the sale go for. I’m sad…I miss Bernie. I didn’t expect colts to sell, admittedly….ah well, thanks! I’m sure the fillies will be very valuable one day

War Fronts aren't selling that badly. 21 in the sale, 4 out. 7 RNAs (+ 1 private sale). The War Front x Odeliz filly was an outlier because she sold for $15,000. His average sale price is $221,000. Last year's Sept yearling average price for him was $227,000. 2021's was $320,000. Since Coolmore stopped supporting him with all their lovely Galileo mares, the quality of mare he's been getting has gone down a little. So the drop in sale price makes sense but isn't a dramatic drop off. He is also 21 years old, so he's nearing the end of his breeding days anyway. He has always had a limited book and fertility issues. I'm fully expecting him to be pensioned in the next year or two.
