Huge story coming out of Ireland
"Irish racing has been rocked by the one of the biggest doping scandals in the history of the sport after trainer, billionaire businessman and major sponsor Luke Comer had his licence suspended for three years and was ordered to pay €840,754 in fines and costs after a dozen of his horses tested positive for anabolic steroids"
https://www.racingpost.com/news/ireland ... Wv1L1DnHE/
What is the kicker is that, like, Comer is a straight up bad trainer, if you can call him that. Not shocking because the article says he only spends 3 months of the year in Ireland so he has a hard time keeping track of his yard(?!). I am sure I have griped about him on here before. He's a billionaire developer who only "trains" his own horses or the odd horse owned by his brother. He has at least 60 in his care, he used to buy a lot of Ballydoyle cast offs and enter them in group staying races where they had absolutely no chance and they finished tailed off. Nowadays he does have some homebreds though, and his numbers have ballooned. His stats are just... something.

Yes its a lot of money but to a billionaire its probably like $75...Justahorse wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 10:05 pmAt least it's a six figure fine I guess??Flanders wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 9:50 pmSo wait.... he is saying, I only give my good horses, good hay and the rest get hay covered in pig shit? I mean technically the fines were only €5,000 per horse, most of the bill is that he has to pay the majority of the legal fees for the IHRB. But yeah still not a ton for a billionaire. You’d think if you gave a horse steroids it would at least win a race, but I guess the pig poop in the hay counter acted that?
Like my guy youre a billionaire, cant you afford decent hay for all of your horses, not just the “20 best”?

Could Japan's best chance in the Arc actually be an "Irish" horse?

The son of Heart's Cry handled the soft nicely.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2023 2:56 pm Could Japan's best chance in the Arc actually be an "Irish" horse?
I always agree that Aidan O'Brien is a great trainer!
But Continuous will be reckoned by the Japanese as a Japanese horse if he is by Heart's Cry and bred in Japan, haha!
I still think that the filly Through Seven Seas(JPN)(Dream Journey) has a better shot than Continuous at the Arc this year even if the latter could also run in two weeks, though.

Oops...Auguste Rodin is not Arc-bound. Continuous is.

Auguste Rodin is expected to go straight to the BC Turf.
He dislikes the soft.
Continuous is now the 4th -5th favorite in the Arc (if supplemented).

The three-year-old colts Continuous (Heart's Cry) and Fantastic Moon (Sea The Moon), winners of the St Leger and Deutsches Derby respectively, have been supplemented for Sunday's Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

This "ARC Essential Guide" from RacingPost provides some good info on the races and runners for both Saturday and Sunday at Longchamp.

Hard to believe, but the Longchamp course might NOT be a swamp this year. Not likely to be firm like Santa Anita will probably be, but maybe they won't need the air boats to follow the fields.

Last year’s BC Juvenile Turf winner Victoria Road has been sold to top Australian owner Ozzie Kheir. He’ll remain in Aidan O’Brien’s care for the Cox Plate and Champion Stakes before he is transferred to the country’s leading stable of Ciaron Maher and Dave Eustace for future racing campaigns.
Coolmore has previously sold the Cox Plate winning but ill fated Sir Dragonet to the same connections.
