ETA: Looking through the Summary for today, there seem to be a LOT of RNA's.

I just sorted the horses by price then by sire to see who is hot or not and mostly everyone that has had yearlings to sell so far is doing okay.
I noticed this Wootton Bassett - Naples Bay colt from the 1st session, who had RNA'd and then Private Sold for 100k. Obviously don't know how he vetted but he looks like a pretty horse. His 3yo 1/2 brother won a G3. His dam is a MG3SW and 1/2 to MDO. As I feel like I type constantly on here, I'm not good at conformation. I don't see anything glaring and I've looked at other horses and said Yuck.
I get maybe wanting to sell what you produced but why ship him to the US to sell at Keeneland? Why not sell him in Europe? I feel like we see this every year and it always baffles me. I'm not sure how much it costs to ship a horse but it has to be 10s of thousands. So they maybe made 70-80k? He was bred by Coolmore so they didn't need to pay the €150k stud fee.

#0857 Honor A. P. × Economy of Motion hammered for $20,000 to Gregory Martin. i thought the price was kinda low given the dam has produced a MG3p and is a ½ to Paradise Woods, but then looking at his conformation he isn't the best, unfortunately. and his sire probably doesn't help a shame because the female family is so nice.
he certainly isn't the worst looker though, but yeah...

#0863 Into Mischief × Electric Forest (o/o Forest Music) might also not have vetted very well — which wouldn't be too surprising given both his sire and granddam's records... — he looks way better than the higher priced Into Mischief's and was a RNA for "only" $295,000. might be a bit short backed and i of course don't like that they hide the hooves, but welp. if that mess o/o American Gal sold for $1,100,000, i really doubt this guy doesn't have some problems to justify his price.

#0814 Authentic × Candy Fortune (dam of G1w Hog Creek Hustle) is another one that might have not vetted well. not very pretty — a bit swan necked and over at the knee — but with his price of $100,000 i believe he is one of the shortest-priced yearlings by his sire. even with his not so desirable looks, i think this is still low for a ½ brother to a G1W and by a really sought after first crop sire.

It really goes to show you can't tell much from one picture.
Here are some horses from Saturday's session that I think look nice:
Hip 1137 - c. Tapit x Yawkey Way
Hip 1140 - f. Mitole x You Make Me Sing - from female family of You
Hip 1161 - c. American Pharoah x Ancient Secret
Hip 1164 - f. Flameaway x Appreciating
Hip 1181 - c. Liam's Map x Bernadetta - I think he's super cute.
Hip 1186 - f. Twirling Candy x Bixby Lou
Hip 1200 - c. Bernardini x Cat Dancer
Hip 1205 - c. Bernardini x Cheery - okay, not his biggest fan physically and I'm assuming that's how Elate's half brother ended up this far back in the catalogue?
Hip 1206 - c. Vino Rosso x Cherub
Hip 1222 - f. Improbable x Dear Elaine
Hip 1241 - c. Blame x Eve Harrington - his feet are hidden but he's another super cute one.
Hip 1260 - f. More Than Ready x Fujairah
Hip 1282 - f. Nyquist x Home Schooling
Hip 1287 - f. Mitole x House of Fortune
Hip 1316 - c. Honor AP x Lady Mamba
Hip 1328 - f. Tiz the Law x Lerici - not her biggest fan physically, but she is half sister to Avenge and Liguria.
Hip 1336 - f. City of Light x Little Hidden Gem
Hip 1351 - c. Nyquist x Malibu Model
Hip 1356 - c. Volatile x Martini
Hip 1367 - c. Candy Ride x My Julia Star (FR) - he looks almost brindle grey. Also he looks like a warmblood.
Hip 1394 - c. Candy Ride x Ocean Goddess
Hip 1399 - c. Not This Time x Pearl River
Hip 1411 - c. Volatile x Pooh Corner
Hip 1412 - f. Tapit x Pretty At War - she has a spot on her back that didn't turn grey like the rest of her.
Hip 1424 - c. War of Will x Ready Signal - he looks like War Front.
Hip 1444 - c. Sky Mesa x Salute - half to Mr Speaker, Fire Away, Vigilante's Way. Surprised to see a Phipps family this far into the catalogue.
Hip 1463 - f. Authentic x Singita
Hip 1488 - f. Caravaggio x Stayclassysandiego
Hip 1491 - f. Violence x Street Show - she's got a really cool sock on her right front!
Hip 1495 - f. Tapit x Successful Outlook - full to Anchor Down and Iron Fist, but more importantly, it looks like her left front leg is forgetting to turn grey like the rest of her.

She could end up with an unusual "bloody shoulder" marking that is not only on her shoulder, but includes that front leg.
Hope we get to see a photo of her in another year or two.

Honor AP was so talented...far less talented horses have gone to stud and been well received. It hurts to see him being rejected. Is it his sire primarily? Did his gorgeous foals develop poorly as they grew?brunanas wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 1:50 pm #0857 Honor A. This boy is kind of awkward and doesn’t look like HAP, which many of his offspring do, but you never know ...I love him already, and I hope he does well !
