What are the most common reasons for withdrawal of a horse- I could see illness or lameness but this seems like a large number of the more high profile horses. Or is it that they don’t think they will sell well enough or the vet exam found something? Do they try again at a 2 yo in training sale next year? Or just that they decided to keep them? Thanks-

I would say the reasons you said, they didn't grow like the sellers were hoping, or even the seller didn't like where the horse ended up in the catalog(I think that might be a biggest factor for the later sessions), maybe even they didn't like that the horse is at the beginning or very end of the day. The yearlings were entered in the sale in May, a lot of stuff can happen in that time. After entries are closed, Keeneland sends a group around to inspect all the yearlings and depending on their inspection, it determines where the horse ends up in the sale. I imagine a lot of them have been out of the sale for a long time but Keeneland doesn't publish outs until very close to the auction starting. Some will show up in the 2yo sales or the owners just decided to retain them. Looking at last year, 86 were out in the first Book and 671 total across the sale. Right now there are 482 outs for the sale. I mean can you imagine being the breeder that paid 250k to breed your mare to Into Mischief and the colt ended up in Session 12? That can't be a good feeling and probably why he is an out.

Hip 3, the colt by Into Mischief out of Westside Singer, is beautiful.

Hip 7, colt out of Win the War (War Front) is VERY War Front-looking.

Hip 30, by Into Mischief out of Bast, is also beautiful.

Hip 31, by Nyquist out of Believe You Can, is maybe my favorite Nyquist offspring based off looks.

Hip 46 is a flashy chestnut (c. Authentic x Brushwork).

Hip 51 is another flashy chestnut with a blaze that reminds me of River Keen's freckle-face.

Hip 103 by Tapit out of Drumette is I think my favorite in the sale, between his pedigree (half to Monomoy Girl and Mr Monomoy) and his looks.

Hip 176 by War of Will out of Julia Tuttle inherited War of Will's flashy look.

Overall, I remain impressed with Not This Time's offspring overall.

Can't wait to see what prices some of these babies bring. So many amazing pedigrees! I am especially curious to see who gets Midnight Bisou's baby

I'll put a dollar down saying he goes to Japan. They're gonna pick up some real nice babies.

Very interested in this colt, as well as the Drumette and the Songbird.

Monomoy Girl is an all time favorite of mine, and being out of a son of Tapit herself, I’m sure her half-sibling will be well received.

For whatever it’s worth, this Tapit colt is a full brother to a three year-old named Tapthedrum. Record of 3: 0-2-0.
