This! I'm not an Iowan (but a neighbor) and my husband went to graduate school at Iowa State. They take great care of their animals there and are very proud of their TBs. Spendthrift and some other bigger stud farms turn over their stallions so much, it's nice that a regional market gets to take advantage. He's a G1 winner with a solid pedigree, and since his half brother Hawkbill got sent overseas, it's nice that he's staying in the US. Billy is a half to Emmanuel's dam as well, so it's a nice female family.Nenikikamen23 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 1:30 pm As an Iowan, this is huge for our local industry. He'll be much better supported here than he would be in Kentucky, to minimize this news as simply obtaining a "Spendthrift reject" is such a pessimistic and disgusting way to look at things. The horse's wellbeing is supposed to be the top priority every step of the way, why talk down on a university - which is known for its animal care program - for excitedly sharing this news? Some people exist just to ruin everyone else's day, it appears.

It's also not like people didn't see this coming..I swear that in one of the other threads on this forum that talked about which stallions will be moving... people pretty much predicted Spendthrift would be letting go of Free Drop Billy before next breeding season we just didn't know where he'd be going because nobody was talking..I'm honestly excited about this..Iowa getting free drop billy is major and those students will get valuable hands on experience with stallion handling...he will get lots of love

FDB is going to get so much attention at Iowa, it’s a win for him!
She blocked me after her disgusting comments on last year’s BC, so I can’t see this one, but Danni Wolfe has never exactly been accused of being a great person. Quite the opposite. Terrible for racing.

Been incredibly impressed by Justify's versatility as a sire. What a banner year for him. Group 3 double in Europe, 2nd/3rd in a G1 on dirt in the US, a MSW dirt winner in the U.S., anything else I missed from him today? G1W Arabian Lion, G1W Aspen Grove (IRE), G2W Ramatuelle, G2W Learning to Fly (AUS), G2W City of Troy, G3W Verifying, G3W Air Assault (AUS), G3W Red Riding Hood (IRE), G3W Opera Singer.... Great year for him

He also had a nice maiden winner, Just F Y I (Justify x Star Act [Street Cry]), who won the 6th at Saratoga today.

SHAAZ (Uncle Mo), a $1,100,000 two-year-old purchase, has been retired and will stand at Barton Thoroughbreds for $5,000 LFSN. he was undefeated in his first 3 starts after debuting as a very late three-year-old and then placed in a G3. looks like they tried to bring him back this year after a seven month layoff but he only had 1 work before retiring. seems great for the gene pool.

At least he raced, 2 other sons of Uncle Mo in California never even started. Its kind of crazy how they are standing him for 5k, when a G1 winning Uncle Mo is in California for 9k.brunanas wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 9:35 pm [ *reposting from the Retirements topic* ]

Who relocates to a regional market or exports overseas to make room for country Grammer? Two Phil's is also going to WinStar so the stallion barn has got to be full or at least close to it...Gufo is also on the property available for buyers interested in standing him but I'm assuming he's in the training center

i think Audible is slowly starting to pick up now, and being by Into Mischief i don't think they'll sell him too early, but maybe i wouldn't be too surprised if he went overseas. other than that, Always Dreaming is a 99% chance imo. Good Samaritan and Promises Fulfilled too?
