I think a lot of mares will wait for a quiet or warm night to foal. Pretty sure Serena picked an unpleasant one, weather-wise. Yet, that seems very in keeeping with her character to do so.serenassong wrote:I'm sure they will. I heard she is a very good momma, they do what they have to with the foal, and leave her to it- very protective of her babies.Izvestia wrote:Don't worry about Serena's Song. They'll do right by her. She's a tough old bitty, and she's been so good to them.
Her 2000 baby, Arbitrate- had his 14th birthday on Saturday. He is at stud in Mexico.

I wouldn't be shocked if Serena is bred back this year and hope nobody says anything negative if she is. If her body is done, she won't get in foal. If she does, I see no reason to thinking she wouldn't have a good outcome again next year. I'd just say that I trust her owners and the people who have cared for her her entire broodmare career and I don't believe they'd do something not in her best interests.

Serena's filly sure does have some long legs! I agree that Serena looks wonderful for her age and she looks happy!!
There are other things that I could do, but there's really nothing that I love as much as horse racing. Chantal Sutherland

i agree. i'm always nervous about older mares but every horse is different, and she looks fantastic. if this pregnancy and foaling went well, i don't see why they shouldn't go again for next year.mariasmon wrote:I wouldn't be shocked if Serena is bred back this year and hope nobody says anything negative if she is.
