Interesting that Minding went to Gun Runner; I wouldn't have expected that.
And yes, expectations are very high for Contrail and his offspring. It's true he's an exceptional individual but his sales results did surprise me. His pedigree is also remarkable and I hope he's a home run as a stallion.

California Chrome's Kabirkhan (o/o Little Emily, by Castledale) romped in the Pyatigorsk Derby (RUS-G1).
Undefeated in seven starts, GSW in Russia and Kazakhstan. Beautiful horse.

Whoever bought his dam for $1,000 at KEEJAN this year must be happy.Mylute wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 10:09 am California Chrome's Kabirkhan (o/o Little Emily, by Castledale) romped in the Pyatigorsk Derby (RUS-G1).

The stakes in Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, etc. aren't considered graded internationally and I'm not sure if they'd even be blacktype at all.Miss Woodford wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 2:41 pmWhoever bought his dam for $1,000 at KEEJAN this year must be happy.Mylute wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 10:09 am California Chrome's Kabirkhan (o/o Little Emily, by Castledale) romped in the Pyatigorsk Derby (RUS-G1).

But that said, this colt has ability and her other two to race are multiple winners.

Oh I know it's small potatoes, but having her and being able to brag to people "this here mare produced a Pyatirgorsk Derby winner" would be worth the $1k lol.Mylute wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 2:49 pmThe stakes in Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, etc. aren't considered graded internationally and I'm not sure if they'd even be blacktype at all.Miss Woodford wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 2:41 pmWhoever bought his dam for $1,000 at KEEJAN this year must be happy.Mylute wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 10:09 am California Chrome's Kabirkhan (o/o Little Emily, by Castledale) romped in the Pyatigorsk Derby (RUS-G1).

Unfortunately, winning a G1 in Russia is probably worthless.Miss Woodford wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 2:41 pmWhoever bought his dam for $1,000 at KEEJAN this year must be happy.Mylute wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 10:09 am California Chrome's Kabirkhan (o/o Little Emily, by Castledale) romped in the Pyatigorsk Derby (RUS-G1).

I would be chuffed, tickled, filled with much mirth if I knew a foal I bred grew up to win a big race anywhere.

And let's not forget Pyledriver, Hukum and Desert Crown. Should be a terrific race.Mylute wrote: ↑Wed Jul 26, 2023 2:18 pmIt will be an insane race. Final field for the King George
Auguste Rodin - Ryan Moore
Bolshoi Ballet - Sean Levey
Deauville Legend - Oisin Murphy
Emily Upjohn - Frankie Dettori
Hamish - Richard Kingscote
Hukum - Jim Crowley
Luxembourg - Seamie Heffernan
King Of Steel - Kevin Stott
Point Lonsdale - Adam Kirby
Pyledriver - PJ McDonald
Westover - Rob Hornby
Has to be one of the best fields for a middle distance race in England in years.
Desert Crown wasn’t entered as he has a leg infection that was discovered yesterday. I swear that horse knows exactly when they need him to be sound and finds a way to get hurt. Apparently the Juddmonte International is next for him, but I would be a little surprised if we saw him race again.
Would’ve been fun to see Derby winners run against each other, and if Adayar hadn’t gone off the rails that would’ve been a treat to see three Derby winners in one race.
Oh well, still a great field regardless!

I like King of Steel and Pyledriver - the latter is such a cool story.
I also like Bolshoi Ballet's name so I want him to upset it

That field is star-studded, and I don't know who I want to root for. Love Auguste's breeding and King of Steel's beautifully-forged looks, but...I'm leaning toward the filly, Emily Upjohn. Seeing Frankie take this epic race would be pretty cool.

I commend Godolphin for keeping their Classic winners in training as older horses in the Charlie Appleby era, but unfortunately they really haven’t been rewarded thus far. Besides Modern Games I suppose.
