watching the sale now and kinda surprised that #290 (Connect), whose 2nd dam is Summer Colony, didn't get one single bid. wonder if there's anything extremely concerning about his conformation?

Pinhookers are a thing but if I was just a general buyer, I would want to wait until September. October, or November to buy a yearling.

Interestingly, Bravazo had two in the ring yesterday. Both went for $50K.

f. o/o G1W Dr. Zic (Milwaukee Brew) - fam of Ocean's Answer
f. o/o Windyindy (A.P. Indy) - 1/2 to Patch, Tiz Windy, fam of Banshee Breeze

Both went to NBS Stable / John Ballantyne

It seems like there are more and more sales every year. It used to be the Saratoga sale in Aug and the big Kentucky sale in the fall were the big ones now it seems every month there is a sale somewhere. Pinhooking has really taken on a life of its own as a business.

The Fasig Tipton July yearling sale is not new. Its been happening since 1971, this is the sale that Seattle Slew came from. Here is the history of the sale: https://backring.paulickreport.com/fasi ... years-ago/

Its kind of crazy but comparing 1990 sales to 2022 sales, there are significantly less overall(I'm counting Breeding Stocks, 2yo sales, yearling sales, HORA sales, stallion season auctions, etc). Bloodhorse has sales results from 1980 to today on their site. The older sales though might end up in Other Sales(this is where the Keeneland July yearling sale is some years) and at some point Bloodhorse started keeping track of the worldwide sales so the list will look bigger recently.
https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing ... es/results Just change the year and click on the category. Unfortunately it does not have a sort function to see high prices or anything, its just page after page of results.

Volatile is better looking than I remember. He also has a pretty nice pedigree, and imho, he may be showing more of El Prado in his conformation than his damsire, UBS.
