Because he looked like Zenyatta passing a field of ponies as he went by the other horses. That is a BIG colt. :o
17 hands and 570 kg (1257 lbs).

One of the Ascot commentators said that it looked like KofS was still growing, and may still be filling out. Maybe 17.1 and 1,300 lbs. is within reach. ;)

That is really interesting: that would never happen here in the US

His jockey said something I thought was strange.
“He has a blue eye on one side and you have to be nice and relaxed with him, because he might be a tiny bit blind on that side,” his rider added.
There is a big difference between a blue eye and a blind eye.

i have no idea what this could've been but the first horse I ever rode (that wasn't like a shetland pony) was fully blind in one eye, and said eye was almost entirely turquoise blue.

Who knows what this guy is talking about. Could he have a small cataract?

I have an English Bull Terrier that has 1/4 of an eye 'blue', but the vet has said it's actually not blue, but colorless (looks light blue at a distance) - he thinks she sees fine out of the eye but said if it was a bigger area she might have a problem, said could be genetic or from injury when she was young. Wonder if it's something more like that (?) - never seen a 'blue' eyed thoroughbred.

King of Steel was my favorite winner of the day. He has so much potential, and ran such a big race in the Derby behind Auguste Rodin.

Alex and I started Amo Racing together a long time ago and it was significant that we won this race.

Seems like this should be something that an experienced vet or specialist should be able to determine pretty straightforwardly

Canute, the son of G1 winning Alice Springs, had an unfortunate breakdown in the Golden Gates Handicap today.

One of those things I wish I hadn't seen. :(
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

for the Irish Derby on Sunday, Aidan O'Brien/Coolmore have 5 of the 9 runners (Adelaide River, Auguste Rodin, Covent Garden, Peking Order, San Antonio). his sons have one runner each (Proud and Regal [Coolmore] and Up and Under). can someone please remind me of how this is good for racing? :? yikes.

He ran 6 in the Derby when he won it with Wings Of Eagles and ran 7 in the Derby when Anthony Van Dyke won it and there were only 12 runners in the Race that year

Its not good for racing but Obrien does this a lot of the time in major races

He is a spoiler

Ylang Ylang, the $1.5 million Frankel filly, won on debut.
It’s odd how small the purse was. Is that normal over there?

Thats about right Izvestia for a 2 year old maiden race around 12,000 euro thats more than a winner of a maiden race gets here in the UK

Charlie Appleby ran a nice filly by Dubawi called Dance Sequence yesterday she cost a few bob but the race was only worth 5 grand
