Ace Impact wins the French Derby by 5 lengths from Big Rock.
Big Rock Tried to make all but i felt he was just going a bit too quick.
Take nothing away from the winner who broke the track record but his wins were at small tracks so i couldnt have fancied him.

How does this happen? Where is the inevitable "jockeys will be questioned by the other jockeys for not even trying" announcement?Palace Malice wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 8:13 pm https://twitter.com/AtTheRaces/status/1 ... 92416?s=20

I believe it was a 14-furlong race. IMO it would not be unusual for a field to let a runoff leader just go, presuming the horse would come back to them. Didn't work out this time for them.
IIRC, Presious Passion did that to his competitors a few times, although not by quite that far.

Gosh, it's hard to believe that Presious Passion's "destruction" of the United Nations Hcp was 14 years ago next month! I dig up the YouTube on that race every once in a while and it makes me giggle every time! What he and Elvis Trujillo did to that field in there was just plain laughable! In the end, he only won by about 2 lengths or so, but, as I recall, he took about 2 seconds off the course record, so they weren't exactly walking the dog out there. Talk about pulling the wool over the eyes of a whole cast of jockey characters!BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 10:32 pm I believe it was a 14-furlong race. Kinda reminded me of the front-running win by The Tin Man in the Million a few years before that. Not the same kind of internal lengths-ahead margins, but you could almost imagine the other jocks in there saying, "oh, he doesn't have enough class, or oh, he's too old, or not to worry....he'll come back to us"! I don't remember who rode "Tinny" that day, but they sure hoodwinked the rest of that field!

I dont know if was really being jocked off, was it? Wasn’t Kingscote slated to ride fellow Stoute stablemate Bay Bridge in the Prince of Wales?

An animal rights group "Animal Rising" is threatening more "disruption" at Royal Ascot if officials don't agree to talk about morality with them.

Julie Harrington, the head of the BHA, released a stern and imo, very good rebuttal:Mylute wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 8:50 am An animal rights group "Animal Rising" is threatening more "disruption" at Royal Ascot if officials don't agree to talk about morality with them.

Her point about Animal Rising lying is spot on. They said they wouldnt have any protestors run onto the course while the Derby was off and running, yet someone did exactly that. Then they tried to say that the protestor was on the course before the race, even though literally all the photos and videos of the protestor show the horses running on the jumbotron."At a press conference today, Animal Rising said they will cease their protest activity this summer if British racing agrees to take part in a public debate about 'the morals of horseracing'.
"We will never allow British horseracing to be coerced into any activity by acts of protest.
"Animal Rising have shown by their reckless actions at the Epsom Derby that their public promises cannot be trusted.
"They have demonstrated they are prepared to commit reckless and potentially unlawful acts and to directly threaten the safety of horses and people to generate publicity around their wider aims. These aims include the end of all use of animals by human beings.
"Spokespeople for the sport have already taken part in well over an hour of televised debate since April.
"Throughout those debates the message was clear - that British racing is a sport which is proud of its welfare record, which provides an unparalleled quality of life for the 20,000 horses that compete each year, and which constantly works to minimise the levels of avoidable risk.
"Once again I call on Animal Rising to end their reckless acts against a sport legally enjoyed by millions of people every year."
Tbh i think media and authorities need to stop giving these protestors oxygen. Just amp up the security and call it a day.

I don't think there was a single article about the protestor that interrupted John Fradkin's winner's circle speech at the Preakness.
