Don't know about Hyperion, but Ribot was definitely nutso. I believe he was only supposed to stand in Kentucky for a limited time, but it was considered too dangerous to try and ship him back.

was it ribot who used to bite the ceiling beams in his stall and kinda hang from them, then when he passed they found he had a brain tumour? i think they speculated that behaviour alieviated pain/pressure?
