Two horses went down at the top of the stretch in the last race at Monmouth. Both riders walked off, but Fandrool is still awaiting word on the horses.
ETA: One of the mares did run off and was caught.
Rich Perloff said he still didn't have info on Jamminjl, the other horse.

from the chart =(. JAMMINJL raced off the pace inside, moved up two wide on the far turn, then was injured entering the stretch and fell, euthanized after.

Horrific spill in the last at LosAl, as a horse went down hard, at full speed. Somersaulted. QH, name Slew's Fortune? Jockey hit hard.
ETA: I can not believe it...both horse and rider got up. Slew's Fortune apparently ran off and got caught by the outrider.
Horses....they are either THE most fragile creatures around, or they're the toughest, most badass athletes around.
Jockeys are pretty tough too.

I haven't seen one but, if you can find the race replay, the spill itself is one of the most dramatic I've seen. He must have tripped - at QH top speed - so the head dropped, body got vertical as the hind end went airborne and then went over in a somersault in a blur. If both horse and rider walked off, it's kind of amazing.
But I'd bet both were very sore the next day.

I can understand when a race replay is edited or unavailable when there is injury or loss of life. If the replay has been withdrawn...after you were first able to view it...that makes me worry that Slew's Fortune was found to be seriously injured after all.

On the vet list with Unsoundness, doesn't have a death report yet.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2023 10:07 pm I can understand when a race replay is edited or unavailable when there is injury or loss of life. If you want to look its on here: https://www.simo-central.com/CHRBPublicReport.jsp
Its a search, so you'll need to:
Breed of Horse: Quarter Horse
Track: Los Alamitos
Date: (the From and To have to be different dates so I did)
From: 6/4/2023
To: 6/5/2023
If the horse was euthanized, they'll show up on the fatalities list.
Most likely here: https://www.chrb.ca.gov/racing_fatalities_Cat1.aspx
or here: https://www.chrb.ca.gov/racing_fatalities_Cat2.aspx

By All Means(IRE), 4yo filly. Flipped in the paddock before Race 2 at Belmont. She could not regain her footing so they anesthetized her and took her to the Ruffian Clinic. I haven't seen an update on her condition though. Its so dangerous when they flip.

I'm glad they scratch them now when a horse flips in the paddock. They didn't used to (always). I saw Chinese Dragon flip hard onto his back before the Shoemaker Mile when they were saddling him. He wasn't scratched, ran terrible (worst finish since his debut race) and then he never raced again.

Seize the City (Carpe Diem) was just pulled up lame in the 5th at Belmont, a 6 1/2-furlong MSW for state bred 3yo+up.

I don’t know what happened after that
I hope it’s something minor!

Was still alive the last time they updated the database. If anything changes, it will be here: https://breakdown.gaming.ny.gov/searchb ... p?ID=29455
My guess, is there wont be an update til probably Monday. Since its a government site and I would imagine they don't work on weekends.
