Why does this horse have to stand at stud? He has had two starts, and clearly wasn't sound enough to start a 3rd time.SukiSatsuki wrote: ↑Wed May 31, 2023 11:51 am Loggins

That is the biggest and reddest flag of them all - if Spendthrift doesn't want to stand him lol.SukiSatsuki wrote: ↑Wed May 31, 2023 2:00 pmI'm surprised spendthrift didn't want to stand himbrunanas wrote: ↑Wed May 31, 2023 12:25 pmSukiSatsuki wrote: ↑Wed May 31, 2023 11:51 am Loggins

They might be scared to stand a lightly raced Ghostzapper in Kentucky? If he was by Into Mischief, the stall would have been warmed and waiting for him. I know Airdrie tried with McCracken, who was subfertile. Godolphin has Mystic Guide but besides those have any Ghostzapper's stood in Kentucky? Adena was always moving Shaman Ghost around and I can't remember offhand if he stood in Kentucky(I know he started in California at the farm that got caught AI'ing and now he is in Canada).

I can't think of many Ghostzappers that have gone to stud within the past 10 years other than Shaman Ghost (CA/CAN), Mystic Guide (KY), and McCracken (KY).
Well, there's Iliad (Alberta) and Runaway Ghost (New Mexico).
Shaman never got the chance even though he was arguably the most qualified for KY (at the time).

Isn't Analyze It still a pretty young horse? Does he have some sort of chronic issue that prevents him from stepping into a 2nd career as a riding horse or track pony?
Usually when the geldings make it to Old Friends, it's after they are older

Yeah, he’s 8. He was off a year and a half at 4-5, and raced a few times at 6 and 7. Not sure if it was a tendon issue. Would be curious to know too.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2023 4:25 pm Isn't Analyze It still a pretty young horse? It has been so long since we've seen him on the track, I didn't realize he wasn't already retired.
I have a fondness for his sire line, so I hope he has success.

Brother In Arms, 5yo g (War Front - Believe You Can, by Proud Citizen) $2.9m yearling, was placed in 3 of 4 starts. Probably retired last year but I just saw him mentioned in the Cody's Wish article. Now owned by the 13yo daughter of Danny Mulvihill, farm manger of Godolphin's Gainsborough Farm. His new nickname is Mike.

Finally...I don’t know if he they retired him because he’s been awful since the 2021 BC or if he injured himself, but it’s about time. I know he’s won 2 G1 races, but I can’t see anyone wanting to breed to him...Honor Code is a poor sire - his best son, the very good Honor AP, has not been well received at Lane’s End - that’s hard to accomplish. I’d much rather have had him gelded and sent to Old Friendsbrunanas wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 3:15 pm Max Player (Honor Code) has been retired and will take up stud duty next year.
