Luxembourg won the Tattersall Gold Cup Group 1 for Aiden Obrien and Ryan Moore.
Making all the running he was always holding Bay Bridge to win by a length
Biggest Disappointment was Vadeni he was the first beaten and ran poorly beating only 1 home

Tahiyra won the Irish 1000 gns Group 1 by 1 and a 1/2 lengths from Meditate
She won a shade cosily trapped behind Obriens 2 runners but once out in the clear she showed her true quality.
Nice win for the Aga Khan makes up a little for Vadini poor run

hayes, i have a question that might sound really stupid but i figure you might have somewhat of an answer. do people in general believe Aidan might, you know, be "unnatural"? i saw a reply to a tweet of Luxembourg winning that said something like "looks like the lads have found a new magic potion" and i've always personally thought that his win% as well as fatality/injury% are quite high compared to other European trainers with big stables and wonderful stock but i'm not familiar with him at all so i have no idea (he might not even have higher rates compared to other trainers, it's just that it seems to me that he has more injuries reported on racing websites than other trainers - at least that i see), and that was the first time i saw an accusatory tweet about him.
i like plushies. a lot.

Luxembourg didn't magically become a good horse. He was the morning line favorite of the Arc last year, though Alpinista went off as the favorite. He was a G1 winning 2 and 3yo.brunanas wrote: ↑Sun May 28, 2023 4:57 pm hayes, i have a question that might sound really stupid but i figure you might have somewhat of an answer. do people in general believe Aidan might, you know, be "unnatural"? i saw a reply to a tweet of Luxembourg winning that said something like "looks like the lads have found a new magic potion" and i've always personally thought that his win% as well as fatality/injury% are quite high compared to other European trainers with big stables and wonderful stock but i'm not familiar with him at all so i have no idea (he might not even have higher rates compared to other trainers, it's just that it seems to me that he has more injuries reported on racing websites than other trainers - at least that i see), and that was the first time i saw an accusatory tweet about him.
Aidan's stable size is massive, he trains ~200 horses, so yes he probably has what appears to be a higher fatality/injury % but I doubt it is if you take into account the amount of starts his horses are making. The injuries/fatalities are going to be reported because he is one of the leading trainers and the horses are usually amongst the favorites in the race. With the amount of money Coolmore & partners put into the sport, he should have a lot of wins. Also if Coolmore doesn't think the horse will race well they don't even bother to name the colts and the fillies just go to the breeding shed or are sold off. A couple years ago he had a not great year, his win % doesn't remain consistent, it goes up and down. Sure his winning % might seem high right now but the racing season goes til November, I imagine it will even out.

Vadeni was very disappointing -- hope his connections can get him turned around.
Luxembourg has always been a good horse. I like seeing Spend a Buck in his pedigree; don't see him too often.

The wonderful race mare Annie Power a winner 15 of her 17 races including 8 grade 1s and 4 grades 2 has her first runner tonight at Ballinrobe
A son of Galileo and the first foal out of the yard's top-class hurdler
Owned by Mrs S Ricci she sold a third share to J P Mcmanus and a third to Coolmore
He is called Mystical Power and is odds on to makes a winning debut in a N H bumper race.

What are the rules for horses that bleed in Irish races? Do they have to take a certain time off before they're allowed to run again? TIA.

Some cracking racing this side of the pond starting tomorrow.
10 Group races including The Coronation Cup the Oaks the Derby and the French Derby are just a few
The Coronation Cup may only have 5 runners but any one of them could win this

Second time lucky: can Westover and Emily Upjohn right the wrongs of last year's misfortunes in top-class Coronation Cup?

I’ve gone for Running Lion and O’Brien outsider Be Happy in the Oaks today but it’s going to be a tough race with Savethelastdance running.
