I know this isn't news, since it happened in 1928, but I have to share cause well someone else needs to be tortured with the knowledge. You are welcome. Also the past is the worst.

Rabelais, 1900 stallion (St. Simon - Satirical, by Satiety) was 28 years ago and they decided he need to have fertility treatment. This treatment involved grafting another stallions testicles onto his own. We all know how it ended, it took 2 days. So yeah, instead of just pensioning a 28yo stallion, they did horrific things to him and then he died from it after suffering for 2 days. Courtesy of the Names in Pedigree book that I have now put down.

There is no way its real.
I hope it’s just a joke or misunderstanding. Nothing to back it up yet..

99.9% sure that's a joke about how bad the stayers' division is right now.
Strad has always loved the mares (he let everyone know he was a stallion every time he entered the paddock) and everything I've seen of him from the National Stud indicates he's had no trouble adapting to his new job.

Back on the topic of "lol wtf," the original Preakness was killed because he became indignant during breeding.

glad they aren't forcing him to breed anyway, like at least 2 farms off the top of my head woulda...
That is definitely true. Considering how many stallions specifically WinStar and Spendthrift stand (and Coolmore depending on the year) and how huge the books are, statistically speaking at least a couple of stallions must have a hard time with the workload. If Laoban hadn't dropped dead, I wouldn't have even known that such slippery tactics were needed to keep a stallion physically able to cover mares.

So yes, definitely glad Sumbe is giving Mishriff the rest he needs, but interested to know what the not so minor setback was. But I don't own a broodmare in France so I guess I don't really need to know.
"The 6-year-old son of Make Believe's stud career was initially delayed at the start of the breeding season with a non-life threatening benign pathology, and he was expected to start covering mares in March."

this was a quote from the paulick report article, did i miss that or is that new info they added later?. i'm... not sure what that means. a growth? an illness? it does look like i mixed him up w another horse regarding the injury tho.
Nick Luck interviewed Tony Fry, the manager of Sumbe, today on his podcast. He said Mishriff had a hiccup in his box that resulted in a “digital fracture in the foot”. I don’t know if that’s something in the digital flexor tendon or what.

It was a joke

Of course this wasn’t true. For those of you thought that a horse that’s been retired 6 months could come back into work just over a month before the Gold Cup. Hang your heads in shame 🤣

The most unbelievable part of the tweet wasn't the time frame, it's the thought of Stradivarius of all horses not being interested in mares

Now, now, give some credit to him, he focused on business as soon as he was in the starting gate and he gave 100% of his effort every race. He never got too aggressive or unruly while he was...showing off...either, unlike some stud colts *cough* Lani *cough*

New Approach has been moved from Dalham Hall Stud to trainer Jim Bolger’s Redmondstown Stud in Ireland:

“New Approach has been good to me both on and off the track,” says Bolger with some understatement. “He’s suffered a decline in fertility in recent years and it was becoming expensive sending mares to Newmarket and not getting them in foal, so Darley kindly said that if I still wished to use the nominations I’m entitled to, I could take him home and cover the mares there. I’m delighted to have him back.”

Dawn Approach also stands at Redmondstown Stud now.

It’s a really interesting article on Bolger’s career as a trainer and breeder, if anyone is interested

Creative Cause, who has stood at Airdrie Stud since 2013, has evidently moved to Mapleton Thoroughbred Farm in Ohio.

Is it cause he's old or people aren't interested in him? Shame he didn't come to new York

You think a 14YO stallion is old?

Does anyone know if Protonico has moved? I no longer see him on Castleton Lyon's website. He's still listed there according to the stallion register, but I know those can be slow to update.
