In the 4th at Parx, FOUR horses fell when someone clipped heels, causing a multi-horse spill.
The Fandrool dude said that all four horses got up, but I'm still waiting for some official news.

Take Charge Briana (Curlin) went down in a sprawl in the stretch of the 5th at Churchill downs, a 1 1/16-mile AOC on the turf. I couldn't tell if she broke down or lost her footing on the new Churchill grass. I know that turf course was a mess last year, and I have to wonder if it still is.
ETA: TCB was fatally injured and euthanized on the track. Jockey Saez appears to be OK.
Condolences to all the filly's condolences, including trainer D. Wayne Lukas.

Actually, 5 horses fell - all walked off. Word from the barn is that all checked out OK - hope that is correct. Pretty scary when 8 horses leave the gate and you only see three cross the finish line. Rough day all over the place.Le Beau Bai wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2023 3:25 pmThe chart has them all as walking off, some kind of miracle that!BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2023 2:11 pm In the 4th at Parx, FOUR horses fell when someone clipped heels, causing a multi-horse spill.

This is upsetting. RIP Take Charge Briana. Wasn't she vanned off from a race last year, too?BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2023 2:58 pm Take Charge Briana (Curlin) went down in a sprawl in the stretch of the 5th at Churchill downs, a 1 1/16-mile AOC on the turf. Really not a good day at Churchill. and worrisome since both races where horses pulled up were on the dirt.
I know the track had terrible issues with its turf course, and they spent a lot of time trying to fix it, but the dirt track? If there are problems with it, what can they do before the country's finest 3yos run on it this weekend?

Either the track or state vets missed something in pre-race exam. Or maybe a combination.barbaro111 wrote: ↑Sat May 06, 2023 12:23 pmFS2 just stated Chloe's Dream was euthanized

The thing is, 3 were breakdowns(2 on the dirt, 1 on the turf), 2 were sudden deaths. So its not not like they were all on the same surface or cause. Its bad no matter what though.barbaro111 wrote: ↑Sat May 06, 2023 12:20 pmIs something going on with the track?Squeaky wrote: ↑Sat May 06, 2023 11:37 amChloe’s Dream - waiting for news.SukiSatsuki wrote: ↑Sat May 06, 2023 11:03 am A horse was eased in the second at Churchill I didn't catch who it was
