Derby to be brought forward to 1.30pm to avoid FA Cup final clash following safety concerns
"Derby-winning jockey John Reid has added to widespread criticism on social media following the decision to move the Epsom Classic to avoid a clash with the FA Cup final, saying it was "very disappointing" that the race, which had been listed with a 4.30pm off-time on June 3, will now be run at 1.30pm.
The Betfred-sponsored Derby will be broadcast on ITV1 and be the second race on the eight-race card, with ITV's coverage beginning half an hour before the first race at 12.50pm. The Cup final, featuring Manchester City and Manchester United, has been brought forward to 3pm due to safety concerns and will be broadcast on ITV1 from 2.15pm, when coverage of the racing will switch to ITV4."

So, England's most prestigious 3yo race gets shoved to a very early time...because of 'safety concerns?' At the soccer match? Am I to presume the 'safety concerns' have to do with the tendency of soccer fans to brawl and riot during or after matches? And so horse racing has to inconvenience its participants and fans because soccer fanatics can be a--holes?

Regarding American Rascal's pedigree --- Curlin may not be known for his turf runners, but AR's dam is LADY AURELIA.
When I watched 'Rascal run down the stretch, he didn't remind me of his sire. He reminded me of his mother. If Wesley wants to take the colt to Ascot, I'm all for it.

Curlin really isn't known for his turf sire capabilities and rightfully so. But he has gotten 6 GSWers on the lawn, the 2 I'm most familiar with are the ill-fated G2SW/G1p Diversy Harbor and G2SW Moulin de Mougin. Both came from turfy families.

And it's not like Curlin hasn't produced a grass horse, on the other hand, when you have a 2-time dirt router/grinder HOY, the first thought that comes into your head may not be taking your grass mare to him..................

He was third. The winner was a Cracksman colt out of 1000 Guineas winner Speciosa.
Hayes, have you heard when the stakes races from the abandoned meet at Sandown yesterday will be rescheduled? I’m anxious to see Adayar run.

The BHA has today confirmed that the Mile (Group 2) and the Gordon Richard Stakes (Group 3) will be re-scheduled to Newmarket next week.
The Mile will be run on Friday’s card (5th May) and the Gordon Richards on Sunday (7th), making eight race cards on both days.
All original entrants must re-enter if they wish to run, whilst the race is now open to all other eligible horses, whether they had previously entered or not.
