The Mott-trained bay filly would seem bred to prefer longer, but she mowed down a nice field of 3yo fillies in this 6-furlong MSW on the dirt, and won going away.
Wow debut from the younger full sister to the mercurial Tacitus. This filly could really be special, and her performance, to me, greatly exceeded her Beyer Speed Figure. Figures that take ground loss into account will like the race even better since Scylla was parked four to five paths wide around the turn. This came after she started a half-beat slow and raced through traffic during the early stages. The rider was asking her a bit to go up to a narrow gap between rivals approaching the half-mile pole, but that spot closed and the jockey swung to the far outside, at which point Scylla finally started showing what she had. Despite racing widest she passed several rivals – and passed them with alacrity – going past the three-furlong pole, and after a fifth furlong in 11.79, she finished things off with a final furlong in 11.95. That was a 23.74 final quarter mile while running straight as a string and hitting the wire full of run. She’s the third foal to start from an excellent racemare, and the sky’s the limit for this homebred.

In tonight's 5th race at Evangeline Downs - 9 year old gelding Seau will make his track debut. It will be the 17th different track he's raced at, and he has won at 9 of them. Always has been a cool horse. Much respect to him.

Seau won. He’s won 5 out of his last 8 races dating back to last June. His record is 70-15-14-11 with earnings of $325,704.

He's won a lot of money the hard way. I hope he has a nice retirement waiting for him when the time is right.

American rascal won easily at keenland. Almost 7 years to the day lady Aurelia broke her maiden. What a good boy. I hope he stays on the dirt put that's probably not gonna happen

also in the race are:
-- Baytown Chatterbox (Street Sense), whose 2nd dam is Orate [full to Pulpit]);
-- Kore Kinetic (Nyquist), who is o/o a ½ sister to Race Day (and therefore from the family of Lite Light);
-- Legal Titan (Algorithms), whose 3rd dam is a ½ sister to Silken Cat;
-- Wilson Q (Constitution), who is from the family of Strike the Gold.
American Rascal won by a jawdropping 10¼ lenghts and earned TDN Rising Star honors. he might go to Royal Ascot next.

In race 3 at Keeneland (the one right after after 'Rascal's), Ocean City (American Pharoah x Unicorn Girl) won impressively. The 3yo half brother to Jackie's Warrior had no problem going a mile on the grass. :D

She does have a Into Mischief yearling filly to keep an eye on, though.

kinda sad to see the Tapit colt o/o Hystericalady running for a mere $25,000 tag (was a late scratch after rearing up in the gate, though). he ran for $15,000 last out.

Loved, an MDO half-sister to Maxfield, broke her maiden nicely in KEE R4. Their dam is the Bernardini mare Velvety; second dam is Caress, who produced Sky Mesa.

The runner up in that race (Forever After All), is a 3/4 sibling to Tom’s d’Etat
