WinStar said in one(maybe both) of these articles to only give b12 shot. But they have obviously lied in the course so they probably lied here too.

The intent behind the Black Shot, Wharton acknowledged, was to increase the horse’s energy and his interest in breeding after five unfinished mating sessions in the two days before the injection.

The horse wasn't insured for being given a "let's just mix whatever together" shot and dying from it. They are probably SOL.

If they knew it was neck soreness there is no reason to give random crap in a shot. Its not going to do anything. He needed rested.

It is interesting that most casual fans think these stallions live in paradise and have an easy life. That may be true for some, but at these big farms looking to maximize profits at the expense of all else, they are under a lot of pressure to perform and produce ( not that the horse understands this of course, they just deal with the consequences). When that doesn’t happen is not acceptable and the horses are shipped off or we have an episode like with Laoban. Just sad that the big farm breeding business has turned this way. I am hopeful the smaller farms are more caring.

It is interesting that Wharton said she has used this Black shot “ countless times” at SA in the article I posted originally, then in the earlier 2022 article it says she never used it before. I also can’t believe that you would give a horse a new medication by injection with massive extra-label use and not stay more than 1 min after to make sure he is Ok? In small animal medicine, we often will keep a dog in the hospital for an hour or 2 for monitoring just to make sure they tolerate a vaccine or new medication given.

I'd much rather they "ship off" a stallion out of Kentucky where there aren't as many mares. Or somewhere like Turkey that puts limits on book size. It's still possible that Gufo will be purchased by a Japanese stud farm.
But US dirt sprinters/milers would be much more popular than US turf stayers at studs in Japan.

Mishriff has had a “minor setback” that has landed him on stall rest. He won’t be able to cover mares till mid March.

i thought i read it was a left front hoof injury but i could be mixing that up w another horse. if i did read that, it definitely makes me worry for him.
glad they aren't forcing him to breed anyway, like at least 2 farms off the top of my head woulda...
