i believe he goes into the last leg of the TC next month. he finished 3rd in the second leg after a horrible trip, so no Triple Crown on the line, but i believe he will go either way. then straight to the GP Brasil probably (June).Bel2003 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 6:35 pmHe looks maganificent!!!! There's no scored races for him in his land.....brunanas wrote: ↑Mon Feb 13, 2023 12:04 pmthe turf was listed as heavy yesterday! and yes i agree he should do even better next out, especially because it will be a longer distance that i believe he will quite like (same for the 3rd leg - even longer. it goes 1600m, 2000m and 2400m).tachyon wrote: ↑Mon Feb 13, 2023 8:13 am Thanks SO MUCH for the update, Brunanas!
London Moon(BRZ) is one of the Sunday Silence descendants I'm rooting for with great passion right now (along with Equinox)!!
I've just looked into his pedigree today.
He has the famous Sunday Silence - Storm Cat cross.
Needless to say, the Sunday Silence - Kingmambo cross saw many success in Japan, too (Almond Eye etc).
And the Kingmambo - Storm Cat cross is represented by Japan's best ever sprinter Lord Kanaloa(King Kamehameha).
Sunday Silence x Storm Cat x Kingmambo --- it looks like a beautiful triangle to me!!
I'm not an expert at all. But I guess that London Moon is bred to demonstrate his flashy turn of foot especially on the firm turf.
1:36.73 was relatively slow for the 1600m turf.
Was the turf soft yesterday at Gavea?
I will not be surprised if he improves his performance further in the second leg of the Triple Crown on a firmer going.
And I strongly hope that London Moon will follow in the footsteps of Bal a Bali(BRZ)(Put it Back).
Is the any chance he will be shipped to race in the states at some point?
i haven't read anything regarding plans to race in the us, but i wouldn't be too surprised. i would say perhaps finish the Triple Crown and race in the GP Brasil (WAYI into the Breeders' Cup) and then he might come over. but given Bal a Bali's "state" at stud rn, i wouldn't say that he would stay in the US to stand if he does race there.
thank you for all the insight on the pedigree! love seeing things like that

Sweet. I dunno what it is with this Brazilian horses but they pop my eyes out when I look at them. Im following a racing stable on Facebook page and every horse looks like its made by a god or seomthing. They look very long in the body. Is ti me? or is there another word for their appearance.

i believe they do tend to be bred to look a little longer, and a lot of them are quite tall as well. especially Old Friends breds imo, i usually see some of their weanlings already more than half the height of their handlers and all of their yearlings (usually) way taller than them. Janelle Monae is by far one of the prettiest horses imo, as well one of the most talented. won the 1st leg of the Triple Tiara on her second outing and went to sweep all legs in her subsequent 2 starts. she was sent to the US and lost her form though, and i don't really know where she is now.Bel2003 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 17, 2023 4:30 pm Sweet. She was bred to Uncle Mo and exported. I don't know when she was covered though, its possible it could have been a SH breeding and then back to Brazil?brunanas wrote: ↑Fri Mar 17, 2023 6:22 pmi believe they do tend to be bred to look a little longer, and a lot of them are quite tall as well. especially Old Friends breds imo, i usually see some of their weanlings already more than half the height of their handlers and all of their yearlings (usually) way taller than them. edit - i just looked through her owner's FB page and there's nothing on her. i assume she is back here though as imo the only other place she could have gone to is Argentina and she's not there. i'll try to remember to check the studbook during foaling season see if anything ever pops up.

Also it was very touching for us Sunday Silence fans that Lemaire dedicated Equinox's victory in Dubai to Heart's Cry(JPN) who died two weeks ago.

Her dam is inbred to Mill Reef, which doesn't seem common.

Owner Yoshihisa Ozasa (小笹 芳央) includes ''Ho O' in the names of his horses.
His first name (芳央) can be read either ''Yoshihisa'' or ''Ho O'' in Japanese.
Also the word ''Ho O'' implies the Pope in Japanese.
From those two reasons, Yoshihisa Ozasa is said to name his horses with ''Ho O''.
