Panthalassa was cooked trying to get to the lead in the first quarter. But still nice to see another Japanese horse grind home for the win.
I really hope Japan can win some summer/autumn prizes in Europe and America. I know they had a great BC21 and Deidre won the Nassau in 2021, but a Japanese winner at Royal Ascot, or in the King George/Eclipse/International would be a treat. A Japanese horse at Saratoga would be super interesting too. Our older horse division is pretty bare, they could scoop some nice races (even if the American prize money is less than what they have at home).

Ushba Tesoro(JPN)(Orfevre), 2023 DWC winner, is likely to run in the Arc at Longchamp later this year.
He is going to be the first Japan-based ''dirt specialist'' to run in the biggest race in Europe!!
Will he handle the soft turf at Longchamp?
There's been a speculation among the racing community in Japan that the best dirt horse could handle better the bottomless going at Longchamp than Japanese turf specialists.

That would be fun! I hope they send equinox to the us for the breeders cup and ushba for the arc. That would be amazing if they get both.tachyon wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 8:37 pm Ushba Tesoro(JPN)(Orfevre), 2023 DWC winner, is likely to run in the Arc at Longchamp later this year.

Is there anyone in the us who could eat equinox? What about Europe? I haven't seen a horse win that easily before. Of course there's been easy winners but not THAT easy. Who breaks a track record while being wrapped up?

I'd like to see Do Deuce vs. Equinox, but the fact that they didn't even enter Do Deuce in the Sheema Classic and opted for the Dubai Turf made it look like they knew Equinox was a monster.
The top European middle distance horses slated to race on in 2023 can't seem to stay sound enough to have full campaigns to know if they are bonafide superstars - Desert Crown, Adayar, Luxembourg, Hukum, Pyledriver, Hurricane Lane, etc. It seems to me like the best 12f horses are already in Equinox's backyard.

So it'll be his race to lose if he comes here? I would love to see him have a fun gallop.Northport wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 10:17 pm I'd like to see Do Deuce vs. Equinox, but the fact that they didn't even enter Do Deuce in the Sheema Classic and opted for the Dubai Turf made it look like they knew Equinox was a monster.

Depends if any good 3yos come out of the middle distance classics this year. Deep Impact was beaten in his Arc by a 3yo (before his subsequent disqualification). Also, 3yo fillies get a big weight advantage in the Arc and have done well.SukiSatsuki wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 10:34 pmSo it'll be his race to lose if he comes here? @KeibaKateLooking forward to heading to Kentucky with this big baby Biscuit! Such a talented horse who can run any style to fit the situation. We will head straight from Dubai to Louisville (please warm up before I get there!)
