The thing is, imo, his owner could have gotten him a stallion deal somewhere but apparently refused to settle for less than he thought the horse was worth. Real question though, has anyone seen him up close? Is there like something GLARINGLY wrong that would make farms not want to stand him? Or is it just the owner's thinking the horse should be worth more than he is?

I’m leaning towards this. The horse has a nice female family, and Twirling Candy is a good sire, I would be surprised if no one was interested in standing him. Half of Spendthrift’s roster is less qualified on a pedigree and soundness front. And would no farm in New York or Florida have expressed any interest?

The way Fradkin loudly took credit for Rombauer’s campaign to the Preakness via the El Camino Real Derby (which obviously was successful), he seems to take a lot of pride in how he manages the horse. It sounds like he didn’t want anything less than a seven figure Kentucky deal for his pride and joy of a horse.

So either the horse has physical issues that keep even the Spendthrifts away, or the deal was unrealistic/Fradkin got in his own way as owner/manager/bloodstock broker.

I agree. Shades of California Chrome's owners again.

Rombauer is a nice horse. It would be a shame if something happened to him now. He was retired for a reason-I really wonder if he will hold up to training.

I hope they've thought this through well enough. No matter what they think he can accomplish, if you retire a horse because of injury and bring him back years later because you couldn't make enough money off his stud deal, fans are going to be watching you EXTREMELY closely. As will anti-racing advocates.

Horse has ankle issues they stopped on him and tried to bring him back before without success. Now trying again-not a good idea IMHO

I won't be surprised if he doesn't make the track. I dunno why he wants the horse to stand in Kentucky start small.

So, the owner says he couldn't find a farm willing to pay what he wanted.
I wonder how much he's insured for.

Do we think runhappy will ever be priced above 50k? Just wondering cause his commercial says he's priced for value. So he's a bargain stud,I'm not hating on that I think it's perfect for him, would pricing him higher even if his babies are great kind of ruin him?

Oju Chosan seems to have adjusted to the stallion life quite well, and he found a friend :)

i'm looking through the '21 RMB since now you can sort by % of live foals and i'm just browsing through the stallions with the lowest percentages. do the reports received signify the amount of mares that checked in foal in comparison to the numbers of mares bred? i know the % is based off the latter, but i'm not sure what the reports received mean.

% = live foals from mares bred
Reports Received = means the owner said what the result of the breeding was (Live Foal, Aborted, Barren, No Live Foal, Slipped, etc.)
Some owners don't bother to do the report if their mare did not have a foal. Also if the mare was exported after being bred but before foaling, they might not show up until the country the foal was born uploads their data.

I don't know if its used a lot anymore. I used to see it more often or maybe its more common in Europe. As it was said, it means he is getting his mares in foal. But why its called "stopping" is because he is getting the mares in foals and stopping their estrous(heat) cycles.
