i hope that sick feeling in my stomach is wrong.
I have this exact same sick feeling. I'm having awful flashbacks to what happened to Cyrus Alexander, the lieutenant and those other poor horses in Peru several years ago

losing them all was so upsetting, but losing Cyrus broke my heart especially bad. my hopes arent high for this case, and i've never wanted to be wrong so badly.

Flanders: "The horse has no value to anyone beside his owner. If he didn't have men take him during the night, then the horse is in trouble. Either way, I doubt we will hear about him again.
Its not like an enemy could steal the horse and sell him as a TB stallion. His future foals would be ineligible to be registered..."

IMO, it's very likely that Kadyrov had the horse taken. Since he can probably prove that he is the legal owner, the stallion could have his foals registered. However, since Kadyrov and his assets are under international sanctions, the offspring may only be able to run in Russia, since Putin would likely ensure that his ally's horses are eligible.
The stud farm owner who refused to let the horse be moved may be owed money by Kadyrov, and/or be trying to avoid being penalized for participating in illegally transporting the horse across the border.

Exactly what I was thinking of. Kadyrov isn't earning money from the stud fees but the farm owner is (since the money is being used ostensiblty for the horse's care), so Kadyrov may be trying to extort the earnings himself.

So frustrating that an innocent horse is at the center of all this mess. As black beauty once said, unfortunately a horse can't pick his owner

If Kadyrov had the stallion taken, I would imagine the foals could only be registered in Russia. It really depends how much the International Studbook Committee gets involved with political situations, as I'm sure something like this doesn't happen often/ever. But if they felt strongly against it, they could tell the Russian Studbook they can't register the foals. And if push came to shove they could rescind Russia's ability to register Thoroughbreds. They give the ability, then can take it away. Like as far as I was able to find, Dubai Excellence only had foals race on time, otherwise his foals are not recorded by the Russian studbook. And yes the situation is different cause he is the horse's legal owner. Its a mess.

That year gave us not only great racing, but several excellent sires.

He was sold to Saudi Arabia and arrived in January 2021. I don't think they ever announced his sale, I found this at the time on Twitter.

ICE BOX and LENTENOR to Indiana stallion station. Sound like the PA farm ceased stallion breeding?

Declaration of War(USA) sired his first JRA group winner from his first Japanese crop, as 3yo colt Tamamo Black Tie(JPN) [o/o Tamamo Earring(JPN) by Black Tide(JPN)] won the G3 Falcon Stakes 1600m turf at Chukyo on March 18th 2023. 7: 3-1-0.

The son of War Front(USA) has been doing very well at stud in Japan. :D

I'm a fan of Declaration of War, and I wish he could have have stayed here.
Our loss, Japan's gain. I'm sure he will do very well with all those Sunday-Silence-line mares.
