I've seen that horse race many times! I think Oscar was racing him every four days. He also entered him as a rabbit once in a GR1 against Slew o Gold if i'm not mistaken. I remember he took the lead and hold it for maybe two furlongs and then he stopped! It was at Belmont in a 1 1/2 mile race!!WaquoitNBroadBrush wrote:Shifty Sheik (an Oscar Barrera "magic juice" horse from the '80s)

It was the Marlboro Cup, and Slew O' Gold got up to beat Shifty Sheik by a half length. Hardly a rabbit; Oscar wanted to win that race.Raven wrote:I've seen that horse race many times! No, it was MY memory. Sorry about that. Shifty's big effort was in the Woodward, two weeks before the Marlboro Cup. He'd come into that race off three wins in three weeks. He finished seventh in the Cup and never hit the board in another stake. I should have checked the Equibase records before posting.Raven wrote:My memory is playing tricks on me! Anyway i remember him taking the lead in a long GR1race as part of an entry and he stopped!
