Afib is the most common of cardiac arrhythmias that thoroughbreds have. I know when looking at sudden death before Afib came up. Afib leaves no signs after happening so they speculate it could be the cause of sudden death. As almost 50% of horses that do die of sudden death have no cause found. https://twin-cities.umn.edu/news-events ... racehorses That is just an article I picked but there are many.

Was glad to see that Pixie Knight fully recovered from his injury in the 2021 Hong Kong Sprint and is nearing a return.

Thanks our champion Efforia for all the memories!!
He left his stall at Miho Training Center for Hokkaido today.
Both his regular rider Takeshi Yokoyaka and trainer Yuichi Shikato were very emotional on his departure.
Hopefully he will be the flag-bearer for the Symboli Kris S / Epiphaneia sire-line.!!!

--from japanracing.jpWhat is the quarantine process involved for both SS and yourself?
Upon arrival, we went into the new TRC international quarantine facility, which is nothing short of amazing. There are six two-stall stall barns in the middle of a 300-metre dirt track; each has a TV lounge, washing machines and dryer, wash rack, two tack rooms, bathrooms, and showers. You can heat the stall area if wanted, there is a covered round pen and a horse scale room, all fenced in the middle of their infield. Shirl’s Speight’s strict quarantine is five days long, where they collect both blood and nasal swabs to run tests on, and humans must shower and change their clothes upon both entry and exit of the barn.
There is a JRA clubhouse right outside of the barn area, and each of us (myself, my interpreter, and our vet, who are with me at all times) have our own locker rooms where one side is for our IN barn clothes, a shower in the middle, and the OUT clothes on the opposite end.
After February 15th and the final quarantine check, the showers can stop, but in-clothes and out-clothes must still remain in separate areas. Shirl’s Speight was able to use the 300m dirt track anytime but was not able to train on the main track until February 12. There is only racing here on weekends and all horses train at training facilities off-track, so Shirl’s Speight is the only horse on the grounds. He is handling it very well. The track is amazing to train on all by ourselves.

Pulling for Great Sand Sea in the Hyacinth. He is a 1/2 brother to Isotherm, one of my old favorites.
Hopeful for Shirl's Speight, but I wouldn't be too upset if Lemon Pop or Jasper Prince won either.

In the February Stakes, I like the son of Lemon Drop Kid, too!!
Lemon Pop should race off the pace.
And I will keep an eye on Red le Zele from the same sire-line as Lemon Pop, too, who should close well with Meisho Hario if a hot pace develops.

I see that Into Mischief is even siring horses running in Japanese stakes; offspring of broodmares bought here, I would guess.

They were both pretty big prices at the OBS 2yo sales last year.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2023 9:26 pm I see that Into Mischief is even siring horses running in Japanese stakes; offspring of broodmares bought here, I would guess.
