‘He Runs And Looks Like A Two-Turn Type Of Horse’: Juddmonte Maiden Winner Jungfrau Could Start On Road To Kentucky Derby In Withers Or Risen Star
https://paulickreport.com/news/triple-c ... isen-star/
Boasting strong Juddmonte-influenced bloodlines, Jungfrau (Arrogate) is out of the Tapit mare South Bank, whose dam Special Duty was a three-time Group 1 winner. His second dam Quest to Peak is a full sister to seven-time Grade 1-winning main track distaffer Sightseek and a half sister to multiple graded stakes winner Tates Creek, a dual Grade 1 winner on turf. She is a direct descendant of 1974 champion 3-year-old Chris Evert, a member of the Racing Hall of Fame and an influential broodmare.

Sharar, 2020 chestnut colt (Gun Runner- Sacre Coeur, by Saint Ballado) 1/2 to Lady Eli ran a really nice race at Meydan on February 5th. Its even more impressive when you consider its February of his 3yo year, he was born on April 2nd, he was a maiden racing against winners and the field was 3 and up.

I realize he must be named after the mountain as his second dam is Quest to Peak, but "jungfrau" actually means young woman, maiden, or virgin.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Jungfrau is a region in Switzerland, which is in the Alps. So I don't think you were far off with the mountain guess.

Yes, I know--it's actually a peak in the same range as the Eiger. I've taken the train to the Jungfraujoch station--11,332 feet passing through ice caves! (Or at least there were ice caves in the 1980's :( )

https://paulickreport.com/horse-care-ca ... ulty-test/
Belle Gambe, a 2-year-old half-sister to Breeders' Cup champion Uni, has been stuck in a United States Department of Agriculture quarantine stall for over three weeks due to what owner Peter Brant calls a “faulty” test, reports the Thoroughbred Daily News.
Apparently this happens every year and has for a long time. https://horsesdaily.com/article/equine- ... ing-horses Too much info to post here but it definitely is a faulty test.
This is bananas. It's a disease that is almost only seen in horses who have been bred... she's a 2 yr old filly and probably she's been watched like a hawk considering her bloodlines. It's not a disease found in Ireland or the US. The USDA won't treat her for anything.

Of course the problem is that the USDA lacks the funding it needs to operate correctly. They probably had to hire underqualified people who are not vets who can't veer from regulations because they don't understand veterinary science. This all in the name of legislators getting people to want to dismantle the USDA - don't give it funding, then cry about how it doesn't work. Of course it doesn't work, for things to work, you need to fund them.

It really sucks that this filly and others are the victims of this political posturing.

Thank goodness. Hopefully because Brant had this issue and I guarantee he has friends in high places, maybe he can make enough stink to get some stuff changed in the future. Like maybe they should use the new modern test instead of one that gives false positives and was invented 40+ years ago.

We can hope so but I'm not optimistic. Glad Belle Gambe is released and can, you know, go outside.

Also, can't forget to say that I'm so excited for Teena Ella's win! I was hoping a War Front x Beholder match would win at least one race.

Good win in the slop by this late starter.
