They bring out War Front on the tours. He's been very chill every time I've seen him.
He looks so sweet with you! I try to remember that stallions have good and bad days too so I might just have seen them on a bad day. I have no problems with either of those stallions, I’m just yet to see them on their best behaviour <3 Love them regardless

And side note; Tiz is definitely the equine embodiment of a golden retriever. Blame is also a big sweetheart

Shanghai Bobby was a certified nice boy when I visited Ashford a few years ago. Of all the stallions they brought out, he was the only one guests were allowed to pet.

Awful lot of fatal paddock accidents at that place.

It’s a generic term there, I think. It might just be their way of describing finding a dead horse in a paddock. It’s weird to do a necropsy - a paddock accident is a limb, spine, neck, or head injury. I wonder why they bother. Maybe they include heart attacks under that umbrella.
There are a lot of deaths there because the horses go there to retire… and a lot of them are old, and they die.
It could also be because there are lots of ex-breeding stallions and they do stupid things. High number of stallions, high number of paddock accidents? We don’t usually hear that a mare had a paddock accident.
I don’t know.

if he had to be euthanised, unless he was having neurological issues w/ no obvious injury, i feel like they'd know why they were putting him down (that feels kind of aggressively worded and i dont mean it that way, what i mean is a clearly broken leg, or a bleeding head laceration, etc vs being found and no visible injuries, but unable to coordinate his own balance). so, i agree it's sort of an oddly worded announcement.

Oju Chosan was moved to Versailles Resort Farm last week to start his stud career. The farm mostly has retired/pensioned horses but Oju will be boarded there as a breeding stallion. Might be the best place for him since it will allow for many visitors :D . Lots of photos and videos of Oju on their twitter/youtube/instagram already.

Yes, this must be the best place for him and his fans. :D
He will stand for a fee of JPY 1,000,000 (about US$ 7,700.)

I think maybe that comes from mom. Mitole's is kind of weird too, I never noticed it. Especially if you google image search Mitole stallion and see him against a white background...

I don't recall him ever having a layoff due to injury, or a long one. So I can't guess what happened to his knee.

'Charlie's skinny neck may look better after he gets older and gains a stallion's crest, but his rear legs are rather straight. Not much will improve that. :?

does his 2/10 temperament mean he is an asshole or a saint?
I think a saint. They said he super easy going and kind on the website.
This made my mind wander- who are some of the most gentle, easy-going, and kind stallions currently standing? Kid-safe or almost kid-safe level. Just laid-back dudes. I'd be extremely interested to hear of anyone's experiences meeting those sorts of studs
American Pharoah, Collected, and Liam’s Map are absolute sweethearts. I know Arrogate had a rumor of being a tougher guy, but he was also kind when I met him.
And he’s not currently standing, but Point Given is an absolute ham. He loves being hand fed carrots, safe enough for kids to do as well.
I didn’t get to see him out of his stall, but Mendelssohn seemed pretty sweet too.

The HBC Horse Racing Club took a bus tour of some farms in Hokkaido a couple weeks ago. They saw several stallions but the real highlight of the tour was getting a "sneak peek" of Oju Chosan at Yogibo Versailles Resort Farm before he was put on view for the regular public tours.
Oju at 18:27 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pddU2uhk4y8
He's a tall boy and looks even taller with how he carries himself, head held high. Certainly has the "look of eagles".

And because I know I'm not the only horse girl who had the pocket folders with horses on them, now we can have one with Oju Chosan on it! https://versailles.theshop.jp/items/71230054 But it doesn't look like they ship internationally.
