Even though Soumillon is currently public enemy #1, him going to South Africa has got to be a huge deal for their local industry. They're trying to claw their way onto the international stage, importing better and better stallions, lobbying constantly for more lenient import/export procedures, but at the end of the day, their prize money is a fraction of that of other major racing nations, except for maybe midweek English racing.

Bloodhorse published a very touching article about Whisman

https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing ... tid=Zxz2cZ

It doesn’t really elaborate but it sounds like mental health struggles contributed to his passing. Devastating to his family and the industry

Don't know if I've ever seen this before...
Trainer fined after horses were tattooed under the wrong names. Would have went completely unnoticed if the owner didn't breed the one mare and the foals DNA didn't match.

With Evans spotless record I’m sure it’s just a clerical error. Now that Diodoro relegates his “B” and “C” teams to TUP, there’s room for someone else to take over.

Rick Dutrow's suspension is officially served. As the article says, he won't be able to start back up in business for another 2 or 3 months because he has to start the licensing process all over again from scratch.

It's a little hard for me to process that it's been 10 years since he started a horse in a race. I didn't see a post from anybody yet on this, so I thought I'd put one up to try and find out where you all are on his potential return.

IMHO, he should have been allowed back years ago.

I agree. I think many people passed judgement on him based on his "loud" personality. I can think of a number of trainers who could be classified as unsavory that would make Mr. Dutrow look like a piker. I, for one, will be happy to see him come back.

What is “it”……..the ban meaning Baffert’s name couldn’t be in the Derby program? I don’t recall any drop dead date. There was an implied date—just before the last preps—so the horses could earn points but I don’t remember any actual stated date.

It’s apples and oranges. Baffert can be on track to watch Tim train this year. The real intrigue will be to see if 20 horses earn points and whether Asmussen’s suspension will affect his horse’s point totals or having his name in the program. The Derby is increasingly incidental, it should be run as a simulation in a courtroom.

Aren't you supposed to seek medical attention if "it" lasts more than four hours? CDI's for Baffert is going on for two years. (Secondary definition, of course.)
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Is there a translation of this that makes sense? Did someone steal your login?

The Derby will never be incidental.

Curtis can be quite sardonic. Also makes note of irony. ;)
