A Sea The Stars - So Mi Dar colt is the current sale-topper at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale. He sold for 1.2M guineas to Bill Farish. GSW So Mi Dar is a full sister to champion Too Darn Hot; they are by Dubawi out of MG1W Dar Re Mi.

oh, I didn't realize Dar Re Mi is the Frizette family- I truly think an entire book should be written about her. I am not sure any other mare has had such a profound effect on both sides of the Atlantic.

A Dubawi half-sister to Arc winner Waldgeist just sold for 1,250,000gns to become the new sales topper at Tatts. That’s about $1.7M. The buyer was Al Shira’aa Stables.

Listening to an interview with the vendor of the colt Bill Farish bought, it sounds like the horse will be syndicated into 40/50 shares for around $50,000 each and will be trained in England.

I'm not saying Newspaperofrecord wasn't a nice filly but calling her a superstar is a bit of a stretch. Her dam Sunday Times is in the Tattersalls December Mares Sale which starts November 29 and runs through Decemember 2.

Frankel - So Mi Dar colt goes for 2.8M guineas at Tattersalls today. A Frankel half-brother to Broome sold for 2.4M gns. Godolphin and Coolmore were the buyers.

Godolphin also paid 1.3M gns for a full brother to Without Parole (Frankel - Without You Babe).

The Aga Khan Studs is offering a daughter of Zarkava at Arqana December. Unraced Zerkaza (Dalakhani) is a stakes-producer and in foal to Too Darn Hot.

Very strange turn of events…

Tattersalls is offering for resale 17 juveniles bought at last year's October Yearling Sale for 11,055,000gns. Payment has yet to be received for the group headed by a colt by Frankel (GB) out of Bold Lass (Ire), who was sold for 2,000,000gns by Watership Down Stud.

As well as the purchases at Tattersalls, Knight also bought three yearlings from the Goffs Orby Sale for a total of €2,980,000, including the €2,600,000 top lot, a full-sister to the dual Group 1 winner Blackbeard (Ire) (No Nay Never). The agent also signed for five yearlings at the Arqana August Sale for €1,980,000, and six at Keeneland's September Yearling Sale for $4,875,000. Collectively, the purchases amount to just over £20 million.

So… this undisclosed buyer goes on a spree, settles his bill at every auction house except Tatts… and now these poor breeders/vendors are getting screwed. Yearlings are pure potential, most of those book 1 horses will never be more valuable. A colt that had a $2,000,000 walk in October might not exactly float now that he’s working under saddle. I am very curious to see if these horses fetch anything close to what they brought in October. I wouldn’t be surprised if Watership held onto the Bold Lass colt.

I wonder if the buyer did pay for the other horses or we just haven't heard about it yet. I just read through Tattersalls conditions of sale, no one is going to lose money, well except probably the winning bidder who didn't pay. As they entered into a contract by having the winning bid on the horses, by not paying, the horses will be resold. If the horses sell for less than they did at the yearling sale, the winning bidder who didn't pay will have to make up the difference. Something similar happened at Keeneland's 1996 July yearling sale, when Fusao Sekiguchi bought 7 yearlings for 5.75m and because of circumstances that happened after bidding was unable to pay. The horses were resold and he paid the difference and was allowed to buy horses again. Then won the Kentucky Derby.

Racing Post has a story now and the undisclosed buyer was Saleh Al Homaizi, he co-owned Derby winner Authorized. The vendors were already paid by Tattersalls and had no idea there was even an issue.

No Tattersalls let the buyer take them, or whoever was working for him, and they were put into training. Tattersalls also paid the breeders(or sellers) the money they were owed. So I guess Tattersalls owns them all right now.

There’s a half-sibling to Grand National winner One For Arthur going through the Doncaster HIT/PTP sale this week.

Red Happy (FR) is also in, his current owner is running him into the ground (30 races since Jan 2022, mostly over 3 miles!), he’s only a 6 year old! Her other horses she owns and does the same thing with have been withdrawn from the sale. Really hope Red Happy gets a nice home with a decent owner.

Coolmore has more good sons and grandsons of Galileo than they know what to do with. They can't retire all of them to their own stud farms, so someone else gets a chance to buy a royally-bred, G1-winning horse. Order of Australia will be a fine addition to some breeding farm's roster....just not Ballydoyle's or Ashford's or Coolmore Australia's.
