Am wondering of number of mares bred to stallions in Australia. Heard American Pharoah is expecting just under 20 foals this year but wasnt sure if thats true.

RugbyGirl might be able to help you. She has posted stallion stats before.

But I wouldn't be surprised if that was true. There HAD to be a reason he stayed in the US this year and didn't shuttle.

American Pharoah bred 26 mares in 2021
7 missed so expecting 19 and so far in 2022 has 12 live foals reported on the studbook.

He has had a G2 winner and a separate G1 placing in Australia in 2022 but would be shocked if he comes back next year.

Thank you!

What about Justify?

Wasnt Mendelssohn in South America last year? I was surprised to see him at Ashford in October.

Mendelssohn was in Australia in 2019(Coolmore Australia) and Chile in 2020(Haras Don Alberto). I don't know about 2021.

Justify served 82 mares in his third season at stud. He has the ferrari promotion for his first 2yos and will depend on how his Australian 2yos perform this season he has had 1 runner so far who finished 8th in a G3. Both his previous seasons he served 140+ mares.

Mendelssohn had just one season in Australia where he only has 38 confirmed foals.

Looking at shuttle stallions my biggest surprise was Frosted who served 130+ mares in Australia in 2020 & 2021 his only stakeswinning Australian progeny are 2x G3 winners
